Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
I think in terms of "backspace" because it transfers to the real world so easy.
* Any dummy can measure backspace of a wheel without error using just a ruler and straight edge. Just try to get 10 dummies to measure offset the same. And you can still measure backspace with the tire mounted on the wheel.
* Backspace is relative to a fixed location on the car (wheel mounting surface). Offset defines an imaginary location in space which is not so handy when you're under the car with rulers and straight edge. But you can directly measure how much backspace is available in your car before there are clearance problems. It just doesn't get any easier than that!
* Figuring out new wheels is a piece of cake using backspace. Mount your existing wheels with known width and backspace, decide where you want the outboard side of your new wheels to sit, and measure how much further inboard you want the wheel to sit. Boom! You just figured out the new wheel width and backspace and it wasn't confusing.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
My wife has given me permission "officially" to order. Up until this point she hadn't said "no" per se....which I take to mean yes. Not sure that's the best thing, regardless!!! -I do now have an actual "yes honey you can order wheels right before Christmas". Surely that means she's on board.
All kidding aside, I'm going to order as soon as he get them up on the site as 82-92. As of this morning they weren't on there.
As for finish, there's full wheel - Chrome/polish, gray, black or bronze. OR....chrome/polish with painted inserts: gray, black or bronze. ...and when I say chrome/polish, it's because there's a few different ways 6LE can achieve that shiny, chromish, polishy look and they're still figuring the best way to actually finish it.
As for the Bronze, it's actually the same bronze as the Dodge Demon bronze wheels.
...and custom finishes will be available, but of course at an additional price. He didn't have a number, so you'll have to discuss that with him directly. I might look into stock Iroc gold inserts. Not sure yet. LOVE the modern bronze look, but not sure it's right for my car.

So now that we know it’s a GO! Will these fit on on four corners without spacers? Also what tires sizes are recommended to avoid any issues?

I had planned on running 275-35-18's. Can't speak to what the limits are as I hadn't planned on going wider

Yes that is true all advertised wheels are wider when measured lip edge to lip edge and to comment on brakes anything above 1le ls1 brake upgrade is overkill for our street car and that upgrade is more than enough for the street with light Thirdgen

285 can fit all around no issues
35s or 40s if like taller tire
35s or 40s if like taller tire
While every car is slightly different, they should. Perhaps a small spacer up front depending on exactly what tire size you choose and ride height. Brakes and tie rods will clear. Again, every car is slightly different. The slight offset, plus having 4 identical wheels allows for the most flexibility. There is no ONE perfect size for every car.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Did anyone get answers to important wheel questions: how much they weigh, the brake systems that will fit (or not), the DOT/JPN/TUV testing, and the max weight per wheel?
Important stuff to know.

We did not discuss any sort of testing. That's not something I typically would ask when buying wheels. I would hope the testing is required. Maybe not?
EDIT- Guys, please feel free to contact Mark at 6LE if you have serious concerns. I think Paul's questions are great questions, but I'm not affiliated with 6LE. In talking with Mark, he always had more answers than I had questions! He really seemed on his game, and I simply offered to open a discussion on TGO regarding what our member's would like. I hope it didn't come across like he was some mad scientist haphazardly throwing together wheels based on my input! There are a lot of good questions out there that I don't have answers to, but I would bet Mark certainly does. I hope my efforts didn't dumb down the efforts of 6LE in bringing these wheels to the market.

Guys, I asked Mark about safety testing. Take it for what you will. Again guys, keep in mind he's answering me as we go back and forth via email, not preparing a formal ad for the website.
Me:
Mark, a couple of the guys are asking about safety testing. TUV, JWL, SAE etc. etc. and whether or not any of that has been done. I suggested that if anyone had specific questions, they contact you directly.
Mark:
All done by my private labeler. They also carry the insanely large insurance note that's required. It's all covered

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Custom wheels weren't really on the radar for me, as I couldn't find anything I really liked well enough to drop money on.
Looks like I found one. Don't have the money for it right now though, and plus I JUST bought tires, like literally just today. So I'm interested in these, but it'll have to wait.

So, what's the consensus to this point?
Diameter, width (measured how), offset/backspacing?
Price?
Diameter, width (measured how), offset/backspacing?
Price?
Wheels will be 18" x 9.5" - 13mm offset/5.75" backspacing.
Price is $1120 plus $40 per wheel shipping, so $1280 a set.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
I am close to pushing the buy button on these!! Do we know about fitment on a 4th gen rear? I was thinking of just buying the 4th gen set. Polished with the grey will look sick on my car!!!
Then my 18" american racing irocs will be up for sale.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
I found this the other day, looks like a photoshop of them on third gen, they look pretty sharp
Bottom was the 17", top was the 18". .....although they're only gonna be offered in 18". ....and I'm having mine done in OE gold, but that's also not a "no charge" option. ...but I have to have my gold. They will be offered in a more modern Dodge Hellcat bronze. ...which is actually REALLY cool. ....but doesn't go with my gold theme.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Looks like the 4th gen offering is a staggered setup. 18x10.5 and 18x9.5 which may require rear wheel well work to fit I'd have to do a bit of research to see if those sizes and backspacing would fit my car with a 4th gen rear and not stick out.

Ha, you definitely have a clean car, they will look slick once they arrive and get mounted. Pinstripes are hit or miss for me. Whoever had my car before me had them following the fender line back and I took mine off when it was repainted.
That's my car. I photoshopped 'em on there, lol. ...removed the IROC pinstripes too, as after paint, I'm 50/50 as to whether I'm gonna put em back on.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
The 3rd gen wheels should fit pretty close to stock thirdgen wheels, and the 4th gen wheels should fit pretty close to stock fourth gen wheels. Obviously widths are larger, but the offsets of each are pretty close.
....so if you get the 3rd gen wheels, but have a 4th gen rear....they'll stick out farther. Don't have the specs in front of me, but add that to the slightly larger width.....ehhh.....IMO they'd stick out to far, but you'd have to do the math the get the final measurement and decide if it's to your liking.

Email 6LE see if you can get 2 thirdgen fronts and 2 4th gen fronts for the rear lol. Offsets will be different so no rotation. I have a 4th gen rear but im going back to thirdgen width.

I'm really looking forward to seeing these on someone's Camaro. (photoshop notwithstanding). I'm interested in seeing the tire profile relative to wheel house, etc.
Whose going to be first...?

Spoke with Mark yesterday. He said they were in transit from Japan as we speak.
My wheels are going to be custom finished in stock '89 Iroc wheel gold, so I'm sure that'll add some time to production. I too am looking forward to seeing them in person (or at least in pics if someone gets em up and running before me!)

I would really like to see them and get my hands on them but also not in a super hurry since my car is apart like it is most of the time lol. Got the rear out now getting a custom 8.8 ready also got a set of cts-v front calipers on the way cant wait to see them big dogs behind these new wheels.

Subscribed! I really like the look of these wheels. Abubaca, be sure to share some pictures once you get your wheels...I'm looking forward to seeing how these wheels look on your car. I'm thinking about ordering a set for mine but I'm not sure how well they will be tucked in the front because I have C5 corvette brakes that push the wheel out another .3 inches or so.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
The center of the hub where the bearing goes does NOT actually fit through that hole. If you pop the center cap off the wheel, you can NOT actually get to the dust cap and bearing. The wheel still has to come off. You can physically touch it, but it won't fit through. ....at least on my Irocs. Some wheels have a much larger hole and that bearing portion of the hub DOES protrude through the opening. Then instead of a small center cap, you almost have a cup that fits over the bearing portion of the hub. My old '86 rallies were like that. The aesthetic design of each wheel, and the offset built into it all plays into how that all fits from wheel to wheel.
Now if you wanna break out the micrometer....well, I can't speak for the measurements/clearances. I would certainly hope 6LE has done their homework!!!!!!!
But I'm not worried.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Look at either style Iroc wheel, and how small that center hole is. Then look at the 15" z28/RS wheel from those years and you'll see they have an entire cup that covers the bearing. That cup is so large it's actually held on by the lug nuts.
