CCW Classics
Hey TGO i am about to pull the trigger on a set of these and was looking for some input on reasons not to buy them. Most of the reviews i have found seem mixed with more positive than negative. My budget max is about 3k give or take. The vehicle will see little to no street use. Size will be 18x10.5 6.5 backspace. Pretty much the same measurement as "rlewi771" used here in this thread minus the need for a spacer.

Here are some links to reviews i have read on CCW.

Re: CCW Classics
Well i am mostly asking if there is a better alternative for the money. Sorry i should have specified. I already have the money for it from selling off my old set of wheels. I just dont want any regrets after dropping this much money on wheels only to find out there was a better route to go. From what i can tell they are a great bang for the buck which is very appealing.
I have thought about the Weld RTS's(tired of 5 spoke designs)since they are very affordable and great performers but i like the idea of a 3 piece wheel being able to be rebuilt. And simply put there are some very wheel savvy people on here.

Keep in mind that these types of wheels almost always feature itemized options. So $100/wheel here and there for hardware and finish options may cost you another $1,000 more than the base model.
Don't forget tires count towards your budget too - easy $1k for a 295-35-18 set of tires, if not more...

Yea so far i am looking at 3100 just for the wheels.
-satin black centers 150$ per set
-satin black lips 150$ per set
-2800 for the wheels themselves
-polished ARP hardware no charge
-inner will be raw no charge
So 3100 before shipping.

Re: CCW Classics
It's all what you want there are other wheel company's out there if your not to set on ccw
But you can't go wrong with your choice , your going to find negative reviews on anything on the Web on high end or low end stuff so that's a given
Give it some time and thought as long you look at all your options then your good to go , you'll be happy no matter

Re: CCW Classics
Just took some measurements with a 6.6 back space and that looks to be correct for my set up. I bought my Bear/Alcon brake kit back in 2002 and i am fairly certain they used 1LE hubs so it widened my front track a bit. I am going to give them a call to double check just to verify. As far as i can tell i shouldnt have any issues. I may have to add some material back on to my steering stops as i had grinded them down an inch some years back. I should be able to get my order out first thing Monday morning.

So, sad day, just spoke to Wray at CCW and he said that i would need to run a 3-4mm spacer in order to clear my brakes. I really dont like the way flat faced wheels look and i really want to avoid running a spacer. Any suggestions? I am currently checking on this model here CCW D110. I will try to find a pic

Problem is that many designs don't give the brake clearance once would assume by just looking at their specs - case in point is the Ronal wheels, you can't fit anything larger than the optional Brembos under them. Yet you can stuff 14" C6 Z06 brakes under CTW Wheels due to design, yet they are the same size.

Re: CCW Classics
So you don't like the classics ? Or do you ? Kinda confused now since your posting was about the classics
3-4mm slip on spacer is very thin less than 1/4 in so it's not that big deal and wouldn't cause any extra stress to lug studs
I prefer the D110 over the classics

Re: CCW Classics
I love the Classics and really had my heart set on them but i really dont like the idea of running a spacer albeit a small one. Yea i just realized after i posted how small 3-4mm is but i just hate the idea of spending a bunch of money on good wheels only to have to still run spacers. Wray at CCW said the D110 doesnt need a spacer as well as the LM series. So now i just have to figure out how much i love the D110.

Re: CCW Classics
I am a little surprised honestly that CCW couldnt make a high hat set up for me given that they do custom wheels. When i dealt with "Intro Wheels" before they just had me send them a template of my brakes and they built me a set to fit.

Re: CCW Classics
Just an update: CCW said they would build me a set with extra thick pads for brake clearance. To save money the lips will be polished and the center will be shot peened with a anodized clear coat. For extra weight saving they will swiss cheese the wheel as well.
Edit 5-12-2014: Just spoke with John at CCW and was told my wheels will take 6 weeks to build. So i am currently looking at 5 long weeks . Shipping date looks more like June 17 according to Wray.
6-19-2014: Spoke with Chip yesterday and he said i am 20th in line for assembly. He also said it would probably be 4 more days until they are shipped out. Wheels were paid in full on 5-28-2014 and still havent received a receipt either for them. So hopefully will be here next week on my next day off. Going to try to figure out how to get 315s all around to fit.
Just wanted to post up a overview for entire cost involved.
Sold old set of Intro Pentia's with tires:1500
Sold spare MSD box w/coil:140
Sold old Hooker SBC headers:90
Sold Racing seats:140
Sold spare tires:100
Sold set of wheels/tires from daily driver:300
Total:2270 so far, still have some parts for sale pending on craigslist.
Total cost of new wheels: 3385
So far only 1115 into this new set not including tires. Going to pinch some pennies buying used Hoosier R6's, i dont see tires costing more than 400 for the set. Already bought a pair of 315/30/18 for less than 200 with plenty of tread left. I just hope i can get them to fit in the rear with just some hammering.

Re: CCW Classics
Tire size you plan to run
It's not the wheel that your worried about its the tire flex
6.5 is good clearance amount
6.6 is close probably will work but can't run super wide tires

Thx for the reply Zach, i talked to Wray on Tuesday and he said the wheels are already in machining so its to late to change anything I hope to one day run 305s so maybe things are better this way.

Just arrived last night. I will post more pics in the next few days. I will be working on fitment over the next couple weeks. Need to do the BFH mod to the wheel wells as well as roll the lips.

Re: CCW Classics
I am pretty happy with the wheels so far. They are a bit heavier than i thought they would be. Although all i have available is a bathroom scale they are showing just over 20 pounds. They feel lighter than that when i pick them up so i dont know how accurate that scale is. Fitment is dead on. Literally fits like a glove and i am really happy about that. **Scale reading 1lbs or so over and unable to zero out.

Re: CCW Classics
20lbs is light for a 18" x 10.5" wheel with that offset! Hard to go much lighter honestly...
I am going to suggest something before you mount them: clean them thoroughly and wax/seal them on all exposed surfaces. You can use metal wax on any non-coated metal, or regular wax/sealant on the coated parts. This keeps brake dusting down and also the possibility of staining if BD is on there too long. I use and recommend Griot's Garage wheels cleaner (the green one).

Re: CCW Classics
Thanks guys. I cant wait to mount them and start doing some test fitting. I will definitely look into that metal wax Paul thank you for that. Right now i am working on getting the 315s to fit without rubbing. Alot of Corvette guys seem to be running 315 r6s on 10.5s without issues so i am going to give it a shot. I might look into renting a fender roller or using the phone book method to stretch the fender.

Re: CCW Classics
In the front going to be tough with 315
Are you lowered ?
295 up front will fit 305 will be close
315 is going to be tough one
removing liner and rolling it gains about .5 " maybe tad more but it's not much , then you might not be able to turn to full lock some people can leave with out that a minimal complaint
Should be interesting setup and ton of grib lol

Re: CCW Classics
Hey Zach,
Yea i figured it might be pretty tough. I can live without going lock to lock since it wont be a daily driver. There are a few guys here who have 315s up front and tucked. Roostmeyer, Pablo and slow305(pat i think). I think you have to be at max camber and you have to trim the ground FX front and rear if you have the 25th anniv. GFX. It will definitely be interesting! The car is currently lowered 1.5 inches but i may cut the springs until i can afford some weight jacks froms GC to get the stance right.

Re: CCW Classics
Anyone ever use the phone book method to roll fenders on these cars? I know its sort of a ghetto technique but it looks like some people get some good results on youtube(mostly the import crowd). I think the metal on our cars might be a bit more stubborn trying to do it that way but it might be worth a shot.

Just got the tires mounted. Heres some pics of how much they weigh with the R6 315s and balancing weights. Again i am using a bathroom scale so take it with a grain of salt. Scale is reading about 1lb or so over and unable to zero correctly. I am just looking for a ball park figure. Total is 45lbs. I included some close up pics of the shot peened centers. I will do some fitting tomarrow and try to post more pics.

Re: CCW Classics
Here are some rear fitment pics. They fit like a glove. It took very little hammering on the inner wheel well for clearance. Probably a total of 30 minutes of hammering. You can see in the pics were i am going to have to roll the fender but i dont think it will be difficult. I will hopefully get the front on soon. I need to install the camber plates before i install. Might as well knock those out while i am a it. Need to lower at least 1 more inch all the way around.

-315s on all 4, 45LBS per corner. Overall i am VERY pleased with my CCWs and will be ordering another set for my Bird or possibly just the barrels to save on cost. That will let me buy them in increments instead of dropping another 3k at once, and put them to good use while the Camaro is on downtime. Still hands down my favorite wheel of all time.
