best tires (P215/65R15) for my 1992 firebird?
I currently have on some old Dayton Daytona's (P215/65R15) that need to be replaced.
I'm not looking for some super-high performance tire, just the best tire for the dollar.
Can anyone give me some good recommendations for this size or for P235/60R15?
Thanks in advance!

You'll have alot better luck with the 235/60 option, but finding ANYTHING "good" in a 15" tire these days is going to be tough.
I'd suggest locating a set of IROC 16" wheels or some such, if tire quality really matters to you. Still hard to find good tires for such a tiny Stone Age size, but not as bad as 15".

Thanks! I actually read that Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 and BF Goodrich T/A's are pretty good. Though it sounds like going with 235's on the 15" rim can mean trouble when it comes to handling and hydroplaning. I think I'll stick with 215's

the firehawks have been discontinued, and I heard the Radial t/A's have as well
I got 4 BF goodrich touring T/A from Sam's. Seems like a great tire so far, no complaints. They ride great, don't make noise, and were very affordable for a name brand tire
Sofa, I looked into the 235/60 option, and nothing decent was available. 215/65 tires outnumber 235/60 by 10:1
here's what they look like

Thanks for the info and pic!
The firehawks are still being sold. But it sounds like you can't go wrong going with them or with the BF Goodrich T/A's.
They look good on your car

They might be still for sale but that does not mean they are still made. I wanted to get tires that were not discontinued

Re: best tires (P215/65R15) for my 1992 firebird?
I just bought (4) Firestone Champion HR 215/65R15 for my Z28 this week. They are good all season tires and currently on a buy 3 get on free sale at Firestone stores until the end of the month. I know they are not as wide as the 235/60R15 but these will be for winter driving. In the spring I plan to get another set of wheels that opens up some more tire options for Summer/Autocross season.
