Unbelievable! No powder coated IROC's??
I tried doing a search for powder coated IROC wheels, original or replicas, and I cant find JACK!? Has anyone on here done this yet? I'm going to call a few places tomorrow to get a price quote. Thinking of going with a gunmetal grey with a gloss finish. I think it will look really good on a black car. It will also go well with the IROC decal and stripe on the car.
I'm just thinking of trying something different other than the chrome I have now.

As popular as the chrome IROC's are, you'd think someone out there would make them in other colors, or a width other than 8 inches.
Apparently they just want to stick with their cookie cutter cash cow wheels and switching it up is too much trouble/cost.

I've seen them on ebay without the ugly chrome. I tihnk sizes are 20, 22 and 24. They even have them in 6 vs 5 spokes. IMO 20s are too big unless you have a bagged car
The 20s are 9 wide..if only these were 19s or 18s

Re: Unbelievable! No powder coated IROC's??
I had mine refinished last summer to original luster. I had them santblasted then remachined to bare virgin metal. I was given the option of painting or powder coating the gold and then overlaying with a clearcoat. The shop strongly recommended painting for best shine with a spray on clearcoat so that is what I went with. They turned out sweet I think. Total cost was $850 and they were out for approx. 2 weeks. I live near Boston and they sent the rims to Cali for the machine work cause no one hear does that.
I know I could have thought about aftermarket rims for a little more and then bumped up to 18 Rims but I really wanted to keep cars original look. And the tires were still like new so I saved $800 there too. I have been tossing around the Idea of buying 2 18' chrome rims and having them recoated to match the fronts to give me the deep dish staggered look and to also open me up to a wider drag radial selection.

I know you didn't ask, but I'm going to throw out my opinion anyway...
are you talking about the entire wheel being grey? No silver accents or lips?
IMHO, I think that would look terrible....no matter what color the car is.
now, if you are talking about grey insets and a bright silver lip and flat areas.... maybe, but on your car I think black insets would be the best.
All grey? powdercoat? good way to ruin a set of wheels. you'll hate it, and it will be difficult to get that stuff off of there
