Im not a fan of Skelis paint job or this thread but there is no need to go childish people. Either you like it or you dont.

Me personally, I like the wheels.... Stuffed in the wheel wells.

Honest opinion, trashy. But it's your car, you can do what you want to it.
As for trashing other people's rides in return, that's just as classy. If you're going to ask for everyone's opinions you need to be ready to accept that you may not like or agree with them before you ask.

Re: Wide Tires.

Im no fan of the flames either, but they're very well done. It's not some rattlecan hackjob (and even those can look really well-done, like on Alky-IROC's car) some mudflap did in his shed. Quality of execution is EVERYTHING. No one likes rattlecan primer jobs - that's the lazy man's way to a piece of crap. But there are a lot of guys with flat black thirdgens that look AMAZING. The difference is in the execution.

In general, try to critique based on function and execution more than taste, there are some times where people have a hard time separating the two, such as your tractormaro, but even the guys here can appreciate that you're trying even if they disagree with your stylistic choices.

Re: Wide Tires.

i have a set of wheels from my first camaro you may be interested in. I had an 84 v6 2.8 I put z28 rims with r15 215s in the front and r15 265's in the back. Looked cool. everyone would try and race me. or more like they would and i would loose lol. if your close to nj pm me im looking for 100 bucks. I hit a tree and kept the tires bc they were new.

I had a set of 295s on an iroc and they looked normal....maybe they were 60s not 50s.

those kinda look like they dont belong on it. where did you get wheels that big? were they on truck?

sadly the single muffler pipe gives it away but the v6s are good on gas!

it still pretty cool bc its a camaro,

Hey. Its a rebuilt 700R4 with a shift kit. And unlike with the T5 cars, I can put a ZZ4 in this thing with no transmission problems, the engine has a Hypertech chip and I have a super tubo cat back is exhaust, it's also got 10" wide rear tires, and I think we can agree that the reason i got the car is not the performance, but the airbrushed flaming Skelitons and Vampire skull. Oh yah, and I'm only 17. Not bad If I do say so myself. Did I mention the skelitons and the vampire skull?

Also I don't remember taking shots at your car, I made some legitiment suggestions to help you with your whole 70s drag racer thing you got going on. Side pipes, big hood, etc...

But it's true. My paint jon is childish. The design was totally inspired by a fingerpainting that was found at a methodist Day Care Center...

So you pretty much have a beefed up 700r4? Thats all? :P

Everyone has their own tastes. This is the interwebs, the place where you can post your opinions and jabber about non-sense. If you don't like something say it and move on. The OP knows this wide tire stance is way past done and now people dislike it and laugh at it. Move on.

Re: Wide Tires.

I'd say that its also 70s. I could see those tires on like a 75 z85 Rally Sport, or a 71 Mustang. But hay, to each his own. I think it would look better if he had some wide wheel wells and the fenders were flared out more.

i think the whole thread would look better if he asked for opinions, got them and used them constructively rather than defensively and offensively.

Absolutly. I've posted some things asking for opinions, and its best to take them to heart and use them constructivly, even if they are not constructive on the outside.

Honestly when you ask what people think of your personal project, you need to be prepared that people might have negative things to say due to a difference in taste... Some people have better tastes than others

Do you mean different taste?

An N-50-15 is just an ancient, obsolete version of a 295/50R15. Modern 295s can tuck, and look good, on a 10" wheel IF you get the backspacing correct. But you can fit 315/35R17s on 17x11s, giving you more tread and space for decent rear brakes. If you insist on running a 295/50R15x10 on the rear, then the correct front is a 245/60R15x8. Going to 17s you can fit a 275/40 on a 9.5, again gaining tread width and space for adequate brakes. If starting from scratch, the minimum cost is a wash, so leave the old sizes in the past where they belong.

Re: Wide Tires.

the N50/15 has been around for a Long Long time.

fell in love with a 66 chevl with N50s out back, and ladder bars
car was lifted about 2" all the way around, front also, and the tires tucked under the car..Just Looked cool (to me) car ran 11's back in the 80s

big block pump gas..got to love them..

get them tucked under the car yes even N50/15's
can be done for less the $400

Re: Wide Tires.

I just think they stick out way too far. If you want wide tires like that, usually you have them tucked in more, which depending how wide they are will require some body work. Reminds me of when I lived in Albuquerque and saw all those Honda's driving around with 13" wheels and extended axles/spacers so they stuck out real far haha

the width looks just right, a little too tall for my use and you need a matching pair on the front.make it corner like its on rails, but thats just what i like...lol

Re: Wide Tires.

Aside from looking like crap and being illegal in most states without fender flares, it's great! You need to relocate your panhard, trailing arms, shocks, and springs, and get those same wheels but with a correct offset to get that crap inside your QPs. Then we can talk.

You do know that a stock V6 will have better control in the corners than a stock V8? Bet that gets some nasty feedback from the V8 guys. ha ha.

I love my V6. It is fun to drive, gets good gas mileage, and did not cost much to buy one. That left me with more money to pay for mods and maintenance. I'm sure you can spin those tires with that low end torque of our V6 engines.

I think you will get lots of people looking and admiring as you drive around town. Do you notice any difference in cornering and handling? I just bought a set of Michelin Defender tires for my car. What are the brand and size of your rear tires and what did they cost?

Personally, I would rather do wheelies than burnouts. I can power brake a big v8 into burnout mode, but can you make a little V6 do a wheelie without huge gears that make you top out at 28 miles an hour?

Granted, I got my first 3rd gen when I was your ages, an 86 with a 2.8 TPI and a T5 tranny, but I the first thing I was going to do was start building a 383 to throw in there, until I lost it to a faulty ignition module, vandals, and an impound lot.

And, Skelitor, if you want a unique 5.0 liter, downstroke a 350 block to 302 inches, and revel in your high revving, lower rotational mass, and bigger valves and piston surface area.
