Best online tire store?
As I am thinking about ordering tires online, I was wondering what kind of experiences you guys have with the different American online stores.
Not sure of this is really common in the US, but I know here in Norway, we usually can save quite a bit on ordering online.

Re: Best online tire store?
I've used Tire Rack on a couple of occasions. I've also used their "recommended installer" listed on their web site and have the tires shipped directly to them. (I live outside the US in Canada and plan my trips to the states to coincide with my need for replacement tires. That would be a little difficult from Norway though).
Timely shipping, best prices (almost 50% less than buying locally) and excellent correspondence with Tire Rack and the installers.

Re: Best online tire store?
discounttiredirect.com gave me a screaming deal on tires for my GTA... I got a set of Falkens, shipped to me, for $280 and they had a $50 rebate deal going on... so I got 4 tires for $230. Nobody else came close.
It should be noted that although my car is a GTA, I run 15" wheels because the tires are way cheaper than the 16" tires that you would need to buy for the original GTA wheels.

Sounds good, please keep it going anyone who have recomendations
Maybe it is not so clear in my first post, but my car is in the US, and I will have the tires delivered and installed over there.

Re: Best online tire store?
discounttiredirect.com was super cheap in the early 90s but Ive gotten better deal from TireRack.com now.
Problem is mount and balance, easy for me as I own a HF tire changer, once you get the hang of it, you will move tires around all the time.
But the balance issue then comes up, I luck out as its only $13 to balance 2 tires at walmart up the road.

Do you happen to know if also would mount them on the rims?
That is a common problem over here. If you buy tires online, most garages will charge a really high price for mounting and balancing, since the tires are not bought from them...

They will here, you call and ask for carry in price.
[don't take the whole car, more work they don't make money on, just take rims and tires in alone.]

Re: Best online tire store?
Not impressed by discounttiredirect.com, though, being an online store, but the only way to contact them is by phone or snail-mail. At least I'm not able to find an e-mail address on their site...
