What adapter for 17" ZR1 wheels?

I have a set of 17x9.5 ZR1 wheels with the 56mm offset I took off my wife's Corvette. Got the correct 38mm offset for her car with new tires.
My question is what size adapter do I need to put these on my 89 Formula? I have read different thoughts but sounds like I need to buy 2.5" adapters which sounds really big. Only needed 1.25" adapters to run them on her 86 vet and they seemed huge.
Thanks for any info.

people run anywhere from 2.5 to 1.5" spacers, depends on the stance you want, fender clearance you want. Note that these spacers bolt to your stock hub just like the wheel does, then the wheel bolts to the spacer. You should never use a spacer that slides over lug studs that is mroe than 1/4" thick. My dad is going to run the same wheels you are and he will be using 2" spacers in the front and 1.5" in the rear.

1MeanZ, so you can fit a 17x9.5 with a 1.5" in the back? Which rear end does he have?
