22" wheels on a slammed 91 Z28........
haters,
Hate on.
22x9.5 front, 22x11 rear
265/35 and 295/25 tires, respectively
Going to go with a little bit smaller tire in the front so I can go full lock without rubbing.

As for the style of the rim, I'm not a huuuuuge fan of the center.....but they aren't staying all chrome for very long....

yeah i know that's true but i've yet to find a shop like that around here, i was thinking about starting one but there isn't much of a market for that kinda thing here, it's hard to get people to understand that alot of the "shadetree" guys around here are screwwing stuff up, but then again there are some that really know what they're doing, it's just not the right area for that kind of thing

I just mocked these up to confirm my research on the fitment, wheels (and car) are undergoing some color-corrective surgery after the new year.....im gonna try and grab as many pics as I can, because the big wheel fad isn't going anywhere and I'm sure the info would be useful to others like me.

Re: 22" wheels on a slammed 91 Z28........
With a 22" wheel, that puts the center of the hub 11" off the ground, plus tire sidewall height. YIKES! While it may be slammed on to the wheels, it certainly isn't slammed to the ground. At 11", it is higher than a stock 3rd gen!
Must really make a stock engine'd 3rd gen real slow, toting around that extra weight. Good for cruising, except the bone jarring ride the lack of tires, I guess. The tires are 1.25" taller than a stock tire. How far off is your speedometer?
I'm not hatin' on it, just asking. Not my style, but not my car. So I say people should do to their car, what they want to.

I like the rims tuckin, the rear is poking a little but once you get it set up right I think it will look real good. In LA everyone is riding huge wheels I'm talking 28's on caprices and crap their donked to the extreme so once your use to the size the look will grow on you good luck with getting your ride set how you want it.

The rear tires are approx 28.5" tall.....the difference in speedo reading will be negligible.
As far as a stock motor, well....we all know what our mothers taught us about assuming.
Its a 300hp/350ci gm crate motor with the tpi still on top, the transmission has been built, and the rearend has been upgraded to a disc/posi/3.23 setup. It's not blazing fast, but I daaaaang sure won't have am issue spinning a forged 3pc 22" wheel....

Eh, not my style but to each his own...
However, if someone actually asked me my opinion I would say one of the f*cking fugliest exterior modifications you can do to an F body is install wheels like that. There is NO purpose other than shock value/poor taste. F bodies ride like a rock as it is and your going to put on wheels that will increase that ten fold, your speedo probably doesn't work correctly, and its just that much more drag on the brakes/powertrain. Not to mention the wheels are probably worth three times the car is worth.
But, like I said, to each his own

Re: 22" wheels on a slammed 91 Z28........
however, this is by far the best example of a huge rim on an fbody that i have ever seen so i applaud you for that. i wouldnt ever go that big(mostly becuase i cant afford to ha ha) but it doesnt look horrible and its still close to stock height. good job man your def not the norm it appears you have done a lot of work on the car aside from the huge rims but be prepared to be hated on
you know that guy didnt read any of the posts as most on here wont they just see big rims and say they suck. despite being a 22inch rim putting rubber band tires on it will keep it close to the overall size of a stock wheel, thus the SPEEDOMETER wont be effected much

Not what I expected to see when I clicked the link... Actually looks pretty good! Nice stance. Would have never thought 22's could look good.

If the back wheels were tucked in and the centers of the wheels weren't so ugly it might be nice to look at

Those are really, really, ugly IMO, but to each his own.
Unfortunately the rears don't fit under the quarters which makes it worse; I see them hanging out and I just see a car that has an owner that doesn't know how to size wheels properly. Tires look stretched too...but maybe that "hella flush" garbage is making its way to our cars too.
But congrats, you've now got a car that's defined by the wheels on it, instead of by the car itself.
I really wish big wheels would go away, the only thing I can ever think of is ghetto trash whenever I see them on any car.

going on most everything these days?
I just don't get it!

Re: 22" wheels on a slammed 91 Z28........
I don't know, but I find it amusing that rapper eminem of all people says big rims are stupid in one of his new songs, lol.
I'd like to say they will go away, but when the new Camaros/Challengers come with gaudy large wheel wells and 20s from the factory, it doesn't look promising.
I love the Challengers, and I went to look one night and had my car parked next to it. The Challenger was a good foot or more taller than my car, and really just looked like a big bloated clown car compared to mine.
18s are the biggest these cars look good with IMO. Anything bigger and all of a sudden it's all about the wheels, and no longer about the car which I think is stupid. But again, to each his own.

There are some great wheel designs, but when they go past 18" they loose that just right appearance. IMO

22" rims are not my thing. Wasn't what I expected though. Theres a car on here with 5th gen camaro wheels on it that looks good (20"). Personally my car has 17" Rims and my other car has 18" Rims. Thats enough for me. Hell I say good job thinking outside the box even though its not everybodys bag of chips. I find it extremely hard to understand why someone would lift a car to fit rims though.

Re: 22" wheels on a slammed 91 Z28........
The wheels are too wide in the back for a lowered car, they rubbed waaaay too much so i took the wheels back off. Here they are on the car though...
The car rides on sportlines with a half coil cut in the front. To run 22's lowered you will need to trim the corner of the battery tray. No biggie though. They cleared to full lock in every other way.
Found out later that they actually make a 235/30-22 tire. That would bring you almost to stock tire height.
