need pics (18x10 with 5.00 bs) plz
Hey Guys I am planning on buying some 18x10 american eagle series 225 for the rear very soon and need some pics asap I want the rear wheels to be even with the lip..Im looking for an agressive look. Any help would be appreciated. The backspace is offered in 5.00inch-5.50-and 6.00 inch on bs..... Ive done a search and couldnt find the exact pictures i needed to make a choice. I need to see a pic from the rear where the tire is even to the lip of the quarter. thanks

6" would be the closest, the others will put the wheel outside the wheel well. 6.25 is probable perfectly flush.

Mine are 11" with 7" bs. Pull 1" off the inside, 10" with 6" bs, & its the same wheel to the outside.
You wouldn't want it any farther out, unless you have good bumpstops. The tire would hit otherwise on big dips. Don't ask me how I know.....

I seen that you have 17x9 with 5 inch bs. wonder what that would look like on all four corners?

The 9" wheels were widened to the inside, so the outside fit was the same as when they were 9" wide.
Here they are before the widening:
My fronts are the same 17" x 9" w/5" bs & sit int by about 1/4"-1/2".

You should go for the 5.5 BS and use a 4-5mm spacer. That will get you perfectly flush with a 10" wide wheel.

Re: need pics (18x10 with 5.00 bs) plz
my wheels, at 10" wide would need 6.5" of bs to keep them in as far as they are now, and thats only about 1/2" from the fender lip
these were 18x8 with 4.5" of bs, or zero offset.
thats where the outside of the wheel will be with a 18x10 with 6.5" of bs. 6 would make it about flush once you add the tire bulge

A. Cut tire (when the sidewall contacts the fender in a road dip).
B. Bent sheet metal (when the tire contacts the fender in a road dip).
or
C. BOTH A & B!

Have you seen my set up? I'm lowered 3.25" in the front and have 17x9 wheel with a -4 offset and 4.3125" of back spacing with 285/40/17 tires. The specs I gave him would be exactly just as flush as mine and I have absolutely no rubbing.

Hit a pothole/speed bump/whatever hard enough & you might rub if your flush up front. Do it on the rear wheels & you WILL rub. He was asking about the REAR.
Rear wheels go straight up & down, fronts move in an arc.

out of curiosity, what is your measurement from the center of the hub to the fender? from the pic in your sig the car doesn't look that low

Re: need pics (18x10 with 5.00 bs) plz
you do realize that a 17x9" wheel is 10" wide right? thats why your measurements are off. the width is measured from the inside of the bead seats, not the overall width

2" = 50.8mm
46mm - 50.8mm = -4.8mm
I rounded -4.8mm down to the safe side of -4mm, effectively making my wheels 17x9 -4
My sig pic was before my drop and wheels. Center of hub to fender lip:
Front 12.5"
Rear 14.125"

Re: need pics (18x10 with 5.00 bs) plz
I do realize that manufacturers advertise bead to bead measurement and not the overall width. When manufacturers list their offsets they do so in relation to their advertised width. Camaro SS wheels have an advertised size of 17x9 +46. I use 2" adapters to mount these wheels.
2" = 50.8mm
46mm - 50.8mm = -4.8mm
I rounded -4.8mm down to the safe side of -4mm, effectively making my wheels 17x9 -4
My sig pic was before my drop and wheels. Center of hub to fender lip:
Front 12.5"
Rear 14.125"

My sig pic was before my drop and wheels. Center of hub to fender lip:
Front 12.5"
Rear 14.125"
-4mm offset should give you 4.84" of back spacing.

This is my 10" wheel with 6.5" of BS. Going with 6" BS should give you the look that you want.

No, my tires have a 25.98" diameter. I understand what threw me off. I'm used to figure out wheel sizing using offset and not backspacing which uses the advertised width to have a accurate offset. Whereas with backspacing you use the overall width to get the total BS.

post #18 shows the exact spec wheel you are looking at, 18x10 with 6.5" of bs. moving the wheel out 1" will pout it outside the fender, as you can tell from the pic.
the outside of the wheel is #18 is the same as my wheel in post #10. You really dont want to go any further out. maybe a half inch tops

Re: need pics (18x10 with 5.00 bs) plz
you cant tell me that torque thrusts in any style are only available in a 4.5 bolt pattern.
stock backspacing on any factory wheel from a 3rd gen is NOT 5.5", and even if it was, its not a 10" wide wheel, so it doesnt put the outside of the wheel in the same place follow?
6.5 will fit, you need a 2lb hammer, maybe a grinder and cutoff wheel if you need to trim the bumpstop area. many people here use this size, its not hard to make fit.
my best advise, find a wheel with the correct bolt pattern. or if you post a link to the wheel you want i'll find it.

6in to 6.5 BS is all you need to go with without using spacers for an 18x10-10.5 wheel. Forget about the 5.5 BS when going to a wider wheel. I have 18x9.5 all 4 corners using 6in BS and no spacers.
