Tires?

I trying to keep the car original I have discovered that goodyear does not make the gatorback tires in 16 inch rim size any longer. So, what I want to know is what kind of tire do all you " keep it original" guys use. By the way the size i would be looking for is 235/55/16 or the other option is 245/50/16. All your opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Never seen the 235/55/16s on a 3rd gen before. Only the 245/50/16s.

255/50/16s fit just as good & several run the BFG 295/50/16 (including me before, on my old 92 RS) out back, but those won't work for your original look, huh? .

Re: Tires?

I got a 92 RS and the sticker on the door and the RPO code both say 235/55/16. That is what is on their now. I guess. I would ask what would be the best brand to put on the car. Also I was unaware of the fact that you could run such a large cross section as a 295 on our cars without a little modification. If that is the case, that could open up newer avenues for me.

That would be correct, but when I sold tires we'd never stock that size. I always sold 245/50r16.

Re: Tires?

Did you run thee 295s on the original stock 92 rims? I guess I should have put that in the other post but that is what I have to put the new skins on.

Re: Tires?

Yeah blind driver I am beginning to figure that out. I have spent many a hour looking for somthing that would fit. Leave it to big biz to put somthing on your car just to not re create it or not stock it as an aftermarket item anymore.

Could be worse. You could be fixing up a Mustang with 390mm wheels
