Corvette GrandSport 17x11
I'm finding a bunch of these wheels on Craigslist lately for cheap. Has anyone tried to fit a 17x11 in the front? I don't mind if they stick out a bit as I can/will add fender flares.
Anyone?
Anyone?

Re: Corvette GrandSport 17x11
With the right adapters & some sheetmetal cutting, they'll work. No guarantees on how well they'll fit UNDER the fenders, or low your limited to in lowering your car. But yeah, hey''ll "fit".

Re: Corvette GrandSport 17x11
I prefer my 1/8" thick metal cutting blade on my 3.5" grinder. Can cut shallow, unlike a sawzall. Like to fit my 315s, I had to cut through the top layer of 2 layers of sheetmetal. Wouldn't have been possible to cut through only 1 layer with a sawzall or a plasma cutter.

Re: Corvette GrandSport 17x11
unless its a track only car, 11's on teh front are overkill and it will be a handful ont he street is not setup properly. I would go with a 9.5 max on the front

Re: Corvette GrandSport 17x11
It's amazing how much conflicting information I get concerning these wheels.
Some posts tell me I must use spacers front and rear.
Skulte's site states I only need rear spacers. The guy I'm buying the wheels from said his buddy has the same wheels on his '88 Camaro without front spacers. Looks like I'm diving in and seeing what's up.
I should have the wheels tomorrow with 315 Hoosier A6 racing slicks (which may be for sale).![burnout](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/burnout.gif)
I will probably run Sumis front and rear. They seem to spec out slightly narrow. Normally about 285 in width.

Re: Corvette GrandSport 17x11
Think about it...."the guy I'm buying them from".......He wants your $, so he is not about about to tell you that you'll hafta spend even more $, to put the parts on that you would be buying from him.
NO OEM F4/F5 or C3/C4/C5/C6 wheels will fit the front of a 3rd gen without a spacer. And the rears of those same cars will only fit without a pacer, if you have a 4th gen rear, or (at the very least) a mini tub.
Only way they'll fit without spacers, is if they are replicas made to look like GS wheels, but aren't GS wheels & the bs is correct.
And where are you finding on Skultes site that says front GS wheels will fit without spacers?

Maybe I'm not reading it correctly or it's missing some info.
*edit* Looks like I'll need 2" up front.

Re: Corvette GrandSport 17x11
Yeah. I've read that before & even double checked before posting, to make sure I hadn't missed something.
The only GS listing says 2" adapters needed. Still not sure where you are seeing that says GS wheels will fit without any.

Re: Corvette GrandSport 17x11
Got my wheels today. He even threw in another pair of 315s and a pair of 335s. He got rid of the Vette and bought a race Caddy.
After much research, general consensus seems to tell me I'm going to need 2" in the front and either 2" or 1.25" in the rear depending what my offset is. I'll have to look tomorrow. I'm going take a bunch of measurements, then take the same measurements again, and again, and maybe again to be certain what spacers I'll need.
I don't mind if the fronts rub at full lock and I know I want the rears tucked in as tight as possible.
Stephan, did you ever get your wheels widened? Your widening issues comes up a bunch in my searches

Re: Corvette GrandSport 17x11
Took the measurements this evening. Skulte's site is correct about the 2" spacers in the rear. Then the wheels should clear the bump stop bracket, but will stick out at least 1". So it looks like I'll be looking for 1" adapters. The wheels currently have 8" of backspacing. with the 1" spacer this will give my 56mm offset wheels 7" of backspacing. With some cutting of the bumpstop bracket, they should fit.
FYI, rickshank used 1 1/4" spacers with 36mm of offset. Since I have 50mm of offset, I think the 1" spacers should work out ok. But I don't think he cut out the bumpstops.
