Futura Ultra Z tires discontinued
I have the ultra Z's on my Camaro and love them. They hook very well for street tires and price.
I just acquired another IROC and wanted to get some Ultra Z's for the rear to replace the bald tires that came with it. I went to the local PepBoys which is the only place to get them and the tire guy said they were discontinued with no replacement. Does anyone here know if they are truly discontinued or where to get replacements from? I do have warranty on the old ones and if something happened to them what would I get in exchange?

After working at PepBoys for over 4 years, all I am able to tell you is that the "FUTURA" tires are made by COOPER... Most of the COOPER tire look very similar to their FUTURA couunterparts. You might want to research and see if there is a comparable tire in the COOPER line that matches the specs on the FUTURA.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
P.S.
I used to have the FUTURA GTX on my Firebird I had... They were speed rated as "H" and performed very well considerring what they actually cost. This may also be an option for you. They have recently updated the tire to GTX II. The only difference I saw was that now there is more siphing in the tread.

I have Ultra Z'a, 255/50/16's on my bird, I cut a 1.84 60ft, ran a 7.84 in the 1/8, in a t top car with no suspension mods. I really like the tires, good wet traction too.

Good news. I contacted PepBoys home office and they were very helpful. They did a store search and found a store in FL that had the 2 tires left in stock in my size. They will ship them to my local store for free. These might be the last of the Ultra Z's left.

I saw those JMD. The tread pattern doesn't match at all. Luckly I have a set of NOS Ultra Z's coming from another PepBoys store in my 245/50-16 size. They should be here next week. This is the last of the Ultra Z's in our 16" size throughout the USA.

Yeah, I know the tread doesn't match, but the specs should be the same if you want to stay with the same tire next time you need to change... Possibly an entire set. Those should perform the same once you use up the last of the Ultra Z's...
Just a suggestion... Enjoy the tires you found!

Your right JMD. I know sometime in the future I will need more tires, I'll keep those Coopers in mind......
