Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
I just bought this car yesterday,.....it came with these 17" polished TTII's. Unfortunately I'm so burnt out on TTII's after owning about 10 different cars with 'em. I'm actually trading these straight across for a set of Centerline Convo Pros. (15x8.5" & 15x4")
**EDIT** Just finished installing the Convo Pros on my car yesterday. (I posted some new pics down below)

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
I was going to go with TTII's on mine only in 18. Before I custom ordered them I found the ones I have now for considerably cheaper. I will likely go with 17 inch TTII's on my 66 GranSport though. You can hardly go wrong putting them on almost any vehicle in my opinion.

I was thinking about these rims from O.E. Wheels. They are Deep Dish C5's with machine finish.

That is a corvette wheel from Lakeshore Wheel and Tire. I keep going back and forth between those and a 17 inch IROC...

i've got an '84 red Z-28 (63,000 mi.) and has he stock Z rims. the kind that the seal coat mostly peeled off and the gray spokes seem lifeless and dull. is there a good home remedy to bring these great rims back to life or is there a rim specialty shop that re-does these reasonably?

My New Wheels:
Gunmetal Deep Dish Z06 Wheels - 18x8.5 in the front and 19x10 out back
I have the rear jacked up for now until I can switch out the spacers and do a lil fender rolling... Better pics to come...

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
Try to get your backspacing between 5 3/4 to 6 inches. Mine is just a hair over 6 inches and I can see some slight tire rub marks on the inner fender from hard cornering. A little massaging will fix that...

I finally replaced those TT II's with some Centerline Convo-Pros. They're 15x8.5" & 15x4" with 265/50/15's and 165/80/15. I also lowered it down about 1" in the front and 2" out back. Now I just need to get it painted.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
A set of aftermarket wheels have actually grown on me. Fikse FM5's. I'd even consider going as big as 18" with them. I've only seen two Third Gens with them, but they look very neat.
There's this one I've seen, which is a 1984 Camaro with a Nelson built Twin Turbo 427. 1,750 Horsepower street car.. It mentions running 8's, which is nothing for a nearly 2,000 Horsepower car, but from my understanding, it's not exactly a purpose built drag car.
I absolutely love these wheels. It's not just another Camaro with 'Vette wheels, but it has that simple 5 spoke design. Classic, timeless, beautiful. The only bad part is that I believe they're about $4,500 for a set of 18's, depending on width. Right now, that's a lot more than what my whole IROC is worth. LOL.
Definitely at the top of my short list of aftermarket wheels that I'd consider buying. Otherwise, I'll stick with the IROC's.
I was a bit biased the last time I posted on this topic, but since then I've seen a lot of 18's that look good on Third Gens. Just takes some searching.

That car is SWEET! If only I could find the time and money to get mine even half what that is! Is there any writing on that car? I'd like to see how they did everything on it...

It's Nelson Supercar "#003".
This is a Lateral G thread that the actual owner wrote up about the car. Basically just a little bit of bragging.
http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=5519
And, here's a big two page write up on it from Hot Rod. A bunch of decent pictures included in this one too.
http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicl...aro/index.html
I don't really like white on it much though. I'd like it in black with the same Heritage stripes. Most of all I like the wheels.

These are the factory size (15x7) American Racing AR-23 Wheels purchased from Summit Racing. They cost $89.95 ea and do included the center caps. Lug-nuts are sold separately.
I think these wheels compliment the car quite well and help retain that vintage 80's feel. Also the tire's for this size wheel are very affordable and that's always nice.

How much back spacing do the wheels have? I have 18x10 rears and don't have to roll the fenders or use a spacer. I have Sportline lowering springs...
Try to get your backspacing between 5 3/4 to 6 inches. Mine is just a hair over 6 inches and I can see some slight tire rub marks on the inner fender from hard cornering. A little massaging will fix that...

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
I want to first say thank you to all of you that post the best information anyone could possibly want. I bought my 3rd gen about 3 years ago and thought I knew everything I need to know about any camaro. I have built many chevy motors something you better be good at if you plan on going fast on water, so the motor was no sweat, but anything whatever it was that came up with the car I would log on and there was the answer, and I mean everything. Except how to get over 500 foot pounds of torque to hook up on redials. I have been through this entire car and have literally changed everything and want to post something every once in a while but I have to post to " BEST looking 3rd gen rims" The wheels drove me nuts. I tried 19's, 18's, and 17's but stayed with the 18's. The wheels are original Stern racing wheels there called beast face. I have only seen one other picture of these wheels anywhere they where 15's someone selling on line. The wheels are 3 piece and are incredibly light, I don't think that they're DOT approved. Then there was the issue with them being 5x114 so I had to make some custom wheel spacers, but I still wished I could push the inset deeper into the wheels so I took them apart and turned the center part of the wheels on a lathe so I could bolt the wheel centers from behind the rim rather than in front. It gave me about 3/4" deep into the rim and made the wheels look better than I could have imagined.
BTW, I have been getting asked a lot about the plate in the picture and yes that's my real license plate.

I use Vintage Racing Wheels that are 17" x 9.5' with 5.5" backspace that don't need any spacers. They come with center caps but I can't use them on the track. Here's some pictures.
