I bet they paid to advertise here. I don't see anyone else allowed to make 16 of the same posts all over the boards.

Katrina is last years news.

I suspect that if someone wins the car, it will be a "plant" - the actual car owner.

Well, we really didn't know they was going to post like they did. It is understandable that ~13 threads, in the Regional forum, and a non-3rd Gen vehicle, may look like spam. Despite that, it was priorly discussed with the TGO staff (mainly Xoxide - the owners of TGO - Administrators and Moderators had little to do with this). While TGO is not affiliated with these people, TGO is supporting their effort for the cause. It was cleared by the Xoxide staff. Therefore, it's not "spam".

You need to make your own decisions about their event, and decide if you want to participate or not.

I'm simply informing you that Xoxide was involved, and is aware. They gave the OK for for them to post on the TGO forums to promote their event.

Glad you and Xoxide cleared it, that must make it legit. What exactly determined this isnt a scam? No secured links. No independent verification. Domains by proxy. No contact information unless you dig deep. *sniff* *sniff*

Maybe Vinny, Tyrone, and Sunny can get together and tell us whats really up.

*I* did not clear (approve or deny) this. Nor did I have any part in this other than informing members on the forums by responding to comments such as TGO being paid for this (which is an incorrect assumption) and how it is "spam" (I can see why it was flagged as such, but TGO staff and Xoxide are aware of this and Xoxide gave approval for this event to be posted on TGO).

None of the TGO staff really had anything to do with this. Xoxide is the one responsible, and I'm simply passing down information. We were only giving minor details about this.

I have seen way to much how the 'victims' have taken advantage of the help.
I would say more but then I fear an argument would persue.

hey madmax,

i totally understand your skepticism. id like to offer any help i can, is there anything that i can give or show you to help prove that this is legit. most of the problems you have pointed out are jibberish to me, although i will forward those problems to the webmasters since i know they will understand more about those things. other than the problems you have pointed out... is there anything else i can do to show you that we are a real company, that is really trying to help people that have been through less fortunate times?

How is giving away cars and money benifiting Katrina victims?

Sure. Where is your business located? What is your business license number, or do they not require those in Delaware?

I guess the registrant for the site is you, and you are giving your car away? At least you took the pictures in front of your house.

traviz,

the way that we can bennifit habitat.org and the katrina victims is by donating the proceeds to them. to enter the raffle you have to purchase tickets, and from those we are donating the proceeds to the habitat for humanity. with that money, they will do wha they do to help the victims of katrina.

And what percentage of proceeds will be donated?

we arent sure exactly what the percentage will be. it will depend on how many tickets are sold when we hold the raffle and which prize is selected for the grand prize. worse case senario, we are shooting for a minimum of 10 thousand to be donated when this is done and over with.

I think this is still a scandal to make some money or publicity. I don't see why you don't even know yet what percentage gets donated. I would hope 100% but of coarse that's not the case. Also, you say worst case you donate 10,000 dollars. But you can offer the winner 15k Instead of the car.

Not saying its 'legit' but I checked some law enforcement databases and it doesn't appear to be listed as a scam.

It's out of my jurisdiction, so if you want it investigated contact the FBI.

http://www.fbi.gov/cyberinvest/escams.htm

After a brief investigation (which I'm sure they've done already), they should be able to tell you if its kosher or not.

BEWARE!

It's a identity theft scam. Do not go to their site, do not give your credit card or any other information to them.

Hey, I am a Hurricane Willma victim! I have four children and sustained $53,000 in damages to my house. Part of my roof was blown off, trees down in my yard. Every window and sliding door had water pouring into it. Have you ever been two weeks without electric trying to heat up water on your barbeque to bathe your children?! Have you ever waited two hours in line to get gas and the station runs out, only to go in search of another station that managed to dig up a generator?! Since then, I have installed hurricane shutters, but the damage is still yet to be repaired because there were so many claims against POE insurance that they went out of business before my claim was settled. Luckily (here it is more than a year later) I was able to get some funding from the state who paid my claim. While in the meantime my real wood flooring is buckeling and splitting from the water damage, and mold grows on anything I put in our closets (try to take care of 8yr,3yr,18mos, and a newborn in these conditions). FEMA also ran out of money, so did I get any help? Of course not, because we were in the shadow of Katrina and noone seems to care about us here in Florida!
Enough of me,
If this is a legit company, congrats...and where are you people when WE need help?!?
If not I hope you can live with yourself!

TraviZ, like all good scams, it looks okay at "first glance". But, it's when you start to look closer that the house of cards fall flat on it's face.

Really, it wasn't TGO's staff. Xoxide (company that owns TGO) staff, gave us instructions to not delete those posts. I was simply following, and advising of, the instructions while we (TGO staff) debate this.

ok how is zero260 the problem?

now that im back at work and reading what all of you have to say, im obligated to respond. i dont understand exactly what grounds grim reaper has to call what we are doing identity theft. i would love for someone to explain this to me. im not twisting anyones arm to enter into the contest, we just thought it would be somthing thats a good idea so someone can win a car and so that we can donate money to habitat.org. and even once this ones done, we are planning on doing another giveaway so that we can make another donation. now that being said, i urge any and every one of you to do some checking up on zero260motorsports. you already have the info for the fbi.. go look for yourself, we arent listed as a scam, because we arent a scam. call habitat.org. ill even give you the name and number of the lady we are working with to partner with them. please... call her, her name is Fiona. the number for habitat is 1 800 422 4828. her extention is 2231. give her a call and see if she knows who we are.

as for madmax... i promised you a business liscense number... here it is, 2006601639. it was issued in the state of delaware. and as for the pictures of the cars being in front of a house, its done to show the realization of the cars. it shows that they are real, they are infact owned by someone at this time, and we are giving one of them away. as for the 15 grand... there are people that want to enter into the giveaway that wouldnt be interested in the cars. for them we offer money so that they too will be offered something that they could use. seriously, would anyone even care about the charity or want to enter into this giveaway if we didnt offer anything that would bennifit you. the sad fact is that the majority of people in the united states dont really care about their fellow man, they only care about themselves. the reason that we dont know the percentage of the donation is because we havnt finnished the giveaway and dont know what the overall overhead will be for the giveaway itself. these things will affect the amount we will be able to give to charity.

ok now as far as posting in every region, i understand that maybe it was a bad idea. i was told i could post in any of the regionals so i posted in all of them so that everyone would be able to read and have the same chance to enter. madmax has also pointed out some problems with the site that i was unaware of, so i called the webmasters and told them today so those things can be resolved. now ive done everything that anyone has asked and more, and yet you still call us a scam... much worse, you have no basis for your accousations, and yet you persist. im sory that for some reason you think that everyone is trying to get one over on you, but untill you have proof (which you will never get, because its not there) that we are fake, why would you bash us when all we are doing is trying to help people.

im truely sorry about what happend with wilma and that your family went through all of those rough times. we chose to donate to habitat.org for more reasons than them helping the katrina victims. truthfully the money we donate will go to bennefit a lot more than just the katrina victims. im sure that with everything that happend with wilma, habitat is doing somthing to help all of you out and im sure some of the money we donate will go to help with those efforts as well. fiona, the lady we are working with at habitat, runs operation home discovery i believe its called, where they help rebuild houses for families that are affected by natural disasters.

beyond that, after we are done with this giveaway, we are planning on doing another to bennefit another cause. im sure we can find a way to incorporate everyone that was affected by hurricaine wilma in that one as well.

look, keep us posted on what is going on with rebuilding after hurricaine wilma. we really do want to help every we possibly can, but if people wont take it seriously or keep calling us a scam, there is no way that this will even work in the first place.

Desperate, arent we?
Realism for a photo? Your 'business' address is the same as that house address... and funny, the satellite photo of that location matches the pictures of the house.
Better work a little more on your story next time.

"Whois" Domain Registry results posted below. Can't even spell Dallas correctly, but the address does exist, next to a country club. USPS says that Newton, VT does not exist, but the zip code "32145" is for Hastings, FL.

"the business is located at 453 granger drive. bear DE 19701" This address exists, an aerial view shows it to be in upscale residential neighborhood.

Didn't check area codes, I've seen enough.

Should you trust John Smith? That's up to you.
