MAF Sensor or Speed Density

Ok guys i know this sounds stupid and all but w/e
if i stay ashamed of asking i'll never know
how do i know if i have a MAF Sensor or Speed Density
besides the fact that i'm going turbo i have other reasons why i need to know
oh ya and i have already got a turbo T25 Garret
and i'm getting the fabriaction done really cheap even though i'm usings polished stainless steal which normally costs an eye and 3 legs
anyways
ummm...
i have an 89 Firebird T-Tops V6
2.8L V6
so answer if ya guys can
MAF or SD?

You have a MAF sensor. If you look at your intake duct, there is a plastic cylinder between your air filter housing and your throttle body. It has a few wires going to it.....that's the MAF.

GM's first attempt at MAF sensors was weak. The sensors are cheap and they suck. Today's GM/Delphi sensors are worlds better.......

Well i need to know what better MAF Sensor i can put
cuz i need a better than stock one for my upcoming turbo
...i'm getting closer and closer to get the setup
but even after i have the custom kit made i'm gonna hold on to it and swap to a 3.4... then comes the boost
so yea what better MAF Sensor do i get that fits
and anything to else that has to do with it if i change it
oh ya anyone know where i can get a 160 degree thermostat

honestly as long as you put the maf on the INTAKE side of the turbo after the intake filter you should be fine. Its the same flow before and after the turbo. The 160 thermo is a no no. computers HATE IT. If you see any cold during the year YOU'LL HATE IT. Go 180.

I bought my 160 thermo from Summit Racing, made by Hypertech, and I think it cost me $8. You might be able to find one locally, too. I run a 160 during the summer (NJ), and put a 195 in for the winter (0-40 degree days, brrrr).
