Driveshaft squeaks!! I finally found my squeak! :)

I am so happy! I finally found out where the squeaking is coming from on my car. From the u joints on the driveshaft. One of my friends said he had this problem with squeaking and he just greased the u joints on the driveshaft and they were gone! What I wanted to know is how hard is it to do this and what kind of grease would I need? Thanks to anyone who helps me!

They have fittings for it. General purpose is good enough. I use Lucas High performance personally...

Well, if it's the original driveshaft, our u-joints are sealed. You'd have to put in an aftermarket set to get the grease fittings. How'd you find out it was the driveshaft?

I actually went underneath the car with it on! It was pretty scary and I got a heater hose and stuck it to my ear and searched around for it. It's really weird, it's not a loud screech or anything, just a little squeaking here and there. And also, I am the only one who notices in my car when it squeaks. Which is good when I have girls in the car. The only times you can really hear the squeaking is when I go through a drivethru at mcdonalds or something. Then the squeaks bounce off the wall and is VERY embarrassing. Oh well, looks like I have another project. I have another question but I will post it in another topic. Thanks a lot TomP and Camarohunter!

Damn, dude, you've got *****! I would've been removing the driveshaft, and seeing if I could make it squeak on the workbench- and I probably never would've found the squeak!

Hey if you've got a camera, maybe you could write a tech article for thirdgen.org about replacing the u-joints- I don't think anyone's written one like that yet.

Yeah I do have a camera. But hopefully I won't have to replace the u joints. Keeping my fingers crossed! I will check on them on Sunday.
