great news

i did a fuel injection system diagnostic check on my 3.1 last nite in school

turned out 100%!!!!!!!!!

i checked the car with a Tech 1 scan tool...........no trouble codes and idles well

which brings me to another point..........the funky tach i had....................well on the scan tool it tells you your actual RPM and the desired RPM for the conditions present

desired rpm was 1150 and actual RPM was 1150 (approx.)

my tach showed 750............so i need to fix that again because last time i fixed it..........i set it incorrectly

where as before i adjusted the tach needle idle was showing about 2000RPM......................where as it should have been much lower...........about 1000-1250 to be precise

i checked my TPS, MAP, IAC, IAT, O2
all were good and correct

Cool! Congrats on your car "passing"... isn't it great to know it's working correctly?

How was the Fuel Integrator/ Block Learn?? You should be around 128/128. Plus or minus 10 is acceptable. FI is short term fuel trim and BL is long term fuel trim.

My car is running rich when idling hot. Block Learn drops to about 103 and it's pissing me off. I did an Injector Balance Test last week and DURING the test my #3 injector STUCK OPEN! I flushed the injectors but it didn't help fuel trim any.

hey dan, to be honest, i didnt look ............that wasnt one of the things we did yet.........................this was for a generic fuel injection system (although i should have looked because my car is multi-port).......when we do our multi-port fuel injection diagnosis..........thats when we get into the block learn stuff

hmmmmm since your problem seems to be cauzed by heat.............check out your CTS and your O2 sensor.......

i'll have to get my GM fuel injection book out of my car and try to give you a better answer though

hey dan, out of curiosity, are you doing GM ASEP school also???

I'm pretty sure my problem is with the injectors..... maybe I'll buy a 3.4 and use the injectors till my motor blows. When you consider $400 for new injectors OR $800 for a 3.4 WITH injectors, it sorta makes sense.

Most of the junior colleges around here have dealer-sponsored auto programs.....unfortunately the one that does GM is farther than i'm willing to drive. The one I'm at now is associated with Toyota so all the shop cars are Toyotas. It's OK though....I get my GM knowledge at work.

He used a scan tool in his diagnostic tester in his car. It basically gives you all the info currently stored into the computer.

I bought take-off injectors from a mustang gt off ebay. They flow at 19lb. They also fit our cars the seller is Five 0 Motorsports. I only paid 96 dollars and he gave me eight. The guy said they take them off peoples new mustangs because they mod them right away so there pretty new.
