Is a ballast resistor needed for coil

I was going to order an msd ignition and blaster coil and I noticed some stuff about a ballast resistor. For an 89 firebird 2.8 EFI, do I need to worry about a ballast resistor? Or if someone already has that setup, what coil part number do you have?

I have a Supercoil direct plug in unit... no resistor needed.

Might be different with the "wire you're own" types though.
