"wobling" sound while driving !
Hi,
I have a camaro 91 rs 3.1L and I hear some kind of "wobling" sound while driving for the rear.
I am not sure what it can be. I am going to change my shocks (coz they are really old and worn) at the rear but not sure if it will help.
Anyone had a similar problem and what did you do ??
This sound is bugging me a lot so any help is appreciated.

"wobbling" is a motion, not a sound. Is it more like an oscilating roar? Do you have a vibration? With the vague description you give, best I can say the possibilities are is could be an axle or carrier bearing in the rear? U-joint(especially if you have vibration),out of round drums, or warped rotors. Really hard to say without more info.

Re: "wobling" sound while driving !
I haven't balanced the tires but somehow the sound I'm getting doesn't seem to be from the tires but i could be wrong.
I know it's hard to get any help with just saying "wobling" sound
I don't feel the vibrations while the car is at 140kph. Then I can really feel it.
"Joe Tag": Where is the U-joint located and what do you mean "out of round drums or warped rotors" ?
I have drums at rear.

Differential and/or rear axle bushing is probably working up to grenade.
Be prepared when it does.
You can get a used rear end (that is probably also ready to grenade) for really cheap, or you can spend money that will make your sphincter pucker for a fully rebuilt and warranteed unit.
The rear-ends on these 20-year-old budget sports cars were NOT built to last.
The "wobbling" will sound will eventually become a whining sound, and will sound like the Alien in attack-mode right before the rear-end grenades. The sound will go away right after there is a big black plume of smoke behind your Camaro.
Ask me how I know.

W.E.G.
That "problem" does not sound good
Have you had similar experience ???
Do i have to change the differential coz I have no idea on how to do it neither change the rear axle bushing. How much does it cost to fix this in the US ? I live in Sweden but just want to get an idea on the costs.

I'm sure its worth your while to have a PROFESSIONAL mechanic look at your car before you start spending boatloads of money on it.
Might want to look at your bank account too.
Many, if not the VAST MAJORITY, of these third-gen cars are at the guaranteed-you-will-be-upside-down point with regard to value vs. cost of ownership.
I traded an AK-47 rifle for my "new" Sport Coupe in January.
I flew from the East Coast to Texas to pick it up (1408 miles from its location in Texas to my home in Virginia).
I paid $2,048.88 for repairs to get it ready for the trip.
It broke down twice between Texas and Virginia.
First breakdown was basic stuff - inside of distributor cap looked like inside of King Tut's crypt. Cap, rotor, and coil for about $150 installed in Mississippi, and I was back on the road.
Eight hundred miles later, the "wobbling" sound just got more-and-more, and turned into a whine, and then a screech that sounded like somebody's spine being ripped out while they were alive, and a bunch of gear oil exploded onto the mufflers, causing an impressive plume of black smoke. Cars behind me were actually swerving to avoid the smoke-cloud.
TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS for the quality-rebuilt rear end assembly.
Altogether it came to $3,146.80, for various-and-sundry parts and labor, to include new exhaust from the CAT to the tailpipe.
I'm in the process of paying a professional to remedy the firewall rust, as well as some windshield and A-pillar issues.
I'm telling you. This hobby is not cheap.
Money-wise, the best bet for a third-gen is to find one that has been garage-kept, and has unquestionable pedigree of owners, and is in top-notch condition. This sort of car, while uncommon, can definitely be had for about $8,000 to $10,000. But then you won't have crazy stories to tell. You'll just have this expensive THING that you have to protect and preserve.
I want a girl who likes to party - not some china-queen who just sits and stares forlornly out the window.
You don't get to play if you can't afford to pay.
BTW, new Camaros (fifth-gen) are common as dirt, and can be had well-equipped for about THIRTY GRAND.
I haven't spent that much on my third-gen yet, but give me time!

If you want to follow my third-gen craziness, the thread about my car is at https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...wner-88-a.html
I might keep going with it until I run out of money, or die, or get put in jail.
I'm so upside-down in my "investment" that I don't even think about it any more.
