Problems after v-belt replacement
I have just replaced the v-belts on my 1985 v6 2.8L and I after I did that I have had two new problems occur. The first is my check engine light started to come on after I have installed the new belts. I checked the error code and it says its a code 22. Which is the tps sensor error. It has a new tps sensor so it is unlikely that it just randomly went bad. The funny thing is that the check engine light comes on and goes off randomly while I am driving. Which indicates something is loose? I have checked it and it is not loose. And it was not moved during the replacement of the v-belts and there was no check engine light before. The other problem is there is a loud screeching sound coming from the AC compressor when I turn on the defroster. Before I replaced the belts that did not happen. I did happen when I turned on the AC but the defrost use to be ok. The heater is working as it should. Any ideas on why these issues would be happening after a v-belt replacement?

Re: Problems after v-belt replacement
the tps may have been replaced, but was it calibrated?
recheck all connectors, and for the screeching, a/c may be locking up and the old belt didn't have grip and was just slipping so much it was screeching.

Re: Problems after v-belt replacement
I figured out the issue for the screeching it was. Before the belt change if I plugged in a electronic wire into the ac compressor it would screech. The belts are tight they have very little ability to bounce. I think the bearings are going out in the compressor. As for the tps sensor error I am not sure. I have adjusted the sensor but that has not fixed the issue. I have checked for loose cables, too.

Re: Problems after v-belt replacement
Well it looks like project 85 was right about the tps sensor. I tightened the alternator belt a little and then gave the tps some slack on the wires and I adjusted it. That fixed the high idle problem and the check engine light coming on. Now I think the AC compressor or clutch is going out. For now I have it unplugged and it does not cause any issues other than I cant use my AC. Plus I live in Washington so it will be a while before it gets hot. I am thinking of getting it replaced if you guys think it does not need to be let me know.
