re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Yes they were some ptfe line off ebay. Right now im using some of the stuff from autozone like you have used gumby(some FI 3/8 and 5/16 line). I got them overlapped on the pipe about 2 inches each and 2 high pressure clamps on each connection. I ordered some russel line from summit. When that comes ill put that on.
Right now im scard to burn the car down as you can exspect. I plan to go though the sensors tonight on the lap top and varifly all the stuff is working correctly.
The wideband is toast. Im would guess the fire ex toasted the sensor. The fire was pretty close to the exhaust and when I sprayed it i just sprayed away. Not really caring about the clean up. I just wanted to make sure the car didnt fry.
Damm damm shame. But stuff happends. All I can do is fix it and make sure it doesnt happend again.

Hmm the eBay stuff must be really cheap then cuz I'm using the Russell Powerflex PFTE lined stuff for my power steering line and I understand that sees a lot more pressure than fuel line. Makes me feel a bit better that I bought brand name hose.
And BTW that rubber fuel injection line is pretty good; I've been running 4 ft. of it on my DD for 30,000 kms at 55 psi. I will be replacing it with braided stainless soon though.

Yea i just must of gotten a bad batch. Ive only had it on there a year. And it never seen high psi really except last year.
I feel that the rubber FI hose will be ok too but im a tad skiddish now so when the russel stuff gets here ill toss it on.
Hopefully i can still hit the track this weekend or next weekend at the very latest as next weekend is my first points race of the year.

Id like to try some of that kevlar nylon braided covered stuff thats replacing SS as just as good or better, I hate getting poked by those wires, used SS braided on my tranny lines in the V8 car, last time I use that stuff.

Mark (I hope I have your name right, I'm bad with names), it is good to see that your car came through mostly unscathed. Yes, a fair amount of damage, but fixable.
Many years ago I too almost lost a car. Those chemical fire extinguishers sure do the job. Same as you are doing, I did the replace, repair, and carry on.
One thing I wondered about is welding. I read a thread not too long ago on the brake board here. Where there was a braided PTFE brake line failure. The owner/thread-OP traced it down to weld splatter.
The splatter damaged the PFTE liner, and was able to see other areas of the hose that was also damaged from splatter. Hence the failure.
Hang in there, if I can help let me know. As for the hood, it may be best to get another one. The heat takes it's toll on the metal.
RBob.

Thanks Rbob.
I never thought about the welding spatter untill you now said it. I too have spot welded on the engine area/exhaust. I always tried my best to use a welding blanket but you never know if something got arround it.
I can't blame it on the manufactuer of the hose's. For all I know I caused the issue in the first place and its almost impossible to pinpoint the root cause. I definitly am a tad skiddish on driving the car right now. Even though I know its ok(fuel line wise) im just gun shy I suppose.
Ill Probly look into a fiberglass hood. I wanted one for awhile as that would really lighten up the front of the car and make it look a tad more aggressive. I didnt plan on getting on for a while. But I just dont see much sence in painting up this one as the metel, as you said, is torn up pretty good.

you do realize if you had that hood already, you would of had a fire twice as bad or worse??? Its not as bad as carbon fiber which is like a match head but still, skin the hood like a nascar in paper thin aluminum.

i have a harwood 2.5/3inch on my v6 car and have used the harwood 4 inch lift off hoods before i dont recomend a 4 inch as it hinders visability a lil bit
the bolt on hoods arent as light as the lift off hoods but they have a much nicer underside but are 2-300 bucks more
the lift offs are much cheaper to get
and with any harwood hood u will need to do a lil fit and finish work , nothing u cant do with a sanding block and file though, some of the edges need to be sanded for proper fit and wiper clearance

Gumby Im not planning on having another fire...lol At least I better not. Im already gun shy as it is..lol I havent even started it up again since I did the final sensor checks..lol
Dave ive never looked into really buying hoods. I did last year a tad just becaseu I was drag racing so much but never got very far as to look at venders. A lift off would be fine also but it all comes to what fits the best and will work for what I need it for. And you all know how much of PITA it is too keep good hood struts let alone take that heavy thing off on your own. I know that stock hood has to weigh a good 50-60lbs.

It just shames me that my hood looks fried right now. I got a price on a paint fix up on the hood. 100 bucks. Good price from a guy I trust but still I hate painting that hood when I know the whole car needs a re-paint. Damm cars.....

and btw with any fiberglass u u have to remove the hood struts
no im actually in the market for a 4-6 inch hood myself to clear the new sb 427 on my iroc
i would have the hood repainted and the front bumper cover on ur car repainted
as long as the hood didnt warp it didnt get hot enough to do any real damage to the metal

Could cut the stock hood down to nothing and make it a take off.
and a black primer hood on a shiny car is an old rodders look.
money went to whats under it.

Well I decided why spend cash on the outside of the car when I really would like it in other places.
I got the o2 sensor and it works fine. Car runs alright drove it arround after the idle relearn but never went into boost. I need another rider to look at the computer to make sure everything is working properly. If I can get some datalogging in sat morning I'll go racing. If not ill go next weekend and see what kind of passes I can make.

Well didnt race the camaro today as it was like 40*s out. Was literly snowing this morning but I did take the gtp instead. It was fun. Fwd is definitly different and so is having street tires. Just horrible 60ft times but I ran upper 14's on the car. It was fun. Heres a video of a 14.75@97mph pass..like 2.35 60ft times.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du5Ty...ature=youtu.be
Ill be at the races all next weekend with the camaro. Im quite excited to say the least.

Probably because it was "4.20" the timing computer was set up wrong as that said person had been celebrating since 4:20am and he thought it was tomorrow already

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Well I got to mess with the car and the boost controler is working. Took if for a ride and discovered its sick rich at 12psi. 10.7 afrs or so. Also A pretty bad spike for a few cells when im just driving and floor it at say 30mph. So that needs to be corrected and I also need to make sure its a little leaner. I dont like anything that low on the afrs' My WG DC is only 28% but yet it keeps it right where i want it to when the initial spike is gone. Man I really love this turbo. Fast spooling and chucked full of volume to flow.
The intake temps almost got away from me on a drag also. But still 135* on a long pull isnt to bad if your not seeing any Kr. Correct me if im wrong. I noticed that since im running some fresh alky I got last week that it has some higher temps. Not much but noticable. IIRC water is better at cooling to a certain point then 100% alky. So If my old alky was a tad damp it would actually cool the IAT better but the 100% alky supresses detination better. Doesnt make sense to me but its just what ive read.
Im excited to say the least as this weekend is the first points race. Im not sure how ill do but im just wanting some clean strong passes and a W light would be nice. Ill make a pass tommorow night and if its a good one....lol Ill let you guys know.

Im sure my engine will like 12 ish too. My car was roughly 12.5 without the alky when it was dialed into 11.5 so A drop like that from the alky keeps my wanting it to stay arround 11.5ish. Im just a tad gun shy about going to the lean side after last years ending.

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Look at this one. The damm car was fast. I ran a 13.22 earlier so I dialed high. I slamed the brakes hard and still broke out. This was a 12 second pass I know it. And I even crushed the guy on the tree. .001 RT. Cars faster then I think for just launching at 2400rpms.
13.03 pass. 2 psi built at the line at 2450rpms. Felt very fast to me.

so with the no antilag rule, is that no external device allowed, or if your ECM will support it without external intervention, it's allowed?
