Replaced starter and now it won't start

I was having problems with my old starter where the bendex wouldnt fully engage and would only start the car half the time. Last year i replaced just the gear but it started to give me problems again. I decided to get a whole new starter so i wouldn't have these problems anymore. I put the new starter in today and now it will engage and turn the motor but it wont even try to start. The car ran without any problems before this and now it wont even start. I'm not sure what could have happened from just replacing the starter to make this happen. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Was there an extra wire going to the large starter lug? Sometimes there will be, it powers the ignition or some other system of the car.

Ditto, sounds like you missed a wire or something.
