Without opening it up, you can't really verify that what the ad says is true, you'll have to determine for youself if the seller is trustworthy.

The price will seem outrageous to the North American crowd, but being on a few Aus based forums, I know that the prices down there are about double what they are here for the same part, or more! So that being said, it seems like an ok price, but I would still talk him down, since you can't really verify any of what was done, or the quality of workmanship by just looking at the externals.

Seems expensive to me but again I am not sure what you can buy down there. I would think for 3600 you could almost pull off a LSx swap.

Is that 3600 Aussie dollars? Which would make it about 3750 USD

If you wanted to stay V6 I would put the money into a 3.4 block and get alumn heads and then with 3600 you could pay to have it put together.

Re: buying a fully worked 2.8 V6

Holly crap thats alot of $$ for a modded 2.8L. Dont get me wrong though if that engine has everything done to it that the seller says its a decent price if you can talk him down a little.

IMO you could take a stock 3.4 and do a 3.XX hybrid conversion and mabey even squeeze in a turbo for the hybrid for under $3600.

One thing though, why are there no headers on that engine?? I find it strange that someone would do all that work and not pick up a set of headers to replace the crappy log style ones...

That seems pretty costly, looks nice, but who knows how it runs. A guy up the street from me is selling a 2.8 v6 for $100 bucks. I was thinking about get it just for parts for mine.

Re: buying a fully worked 2.8 V6

that motor is setup for a turbo, more then likley it has a 3.1 crank and pistons in it.
its a tad on the high side for price but since u are in aus i cant really comment.

here in the states u could turbo charge the original engine and make lots more power for less then 1/3rd the cost of that engine. if u look at fasteddi's build thread i think hes into the car for arpound 900$ us

i dont know what he used for 1.7 ratio rocker arms since the only 1.& ratio rockers i can find are for ford engines and wont have the correct geometry when used on a chevy engine.

that being said ive seen alot of builds from down is aus and those guys do some amazing things with small engines so this could either be one bad lil v6, or just a stock rebuild with some bullshit thrown in the description
