Tell him Karl sent ya.
Keep this option in mind. As GM did the rebuilding work for ya!

Short block has no heads a long block does.

I already knew of the place you said but is there anybody else, YOU CAN save a lot of money if all you do is over bore your current 3.1L block .120 to 3.620 and add a stroker kit and have a real nice engine, you don't have to buy a WHOLE engine, just rebuild the one you have.

Ryan, a 3.1 doesnt require a stroker kit. 3.1's and 3.4's both use the same crankshaft and rods. I would not overbore a 3.1 .120 over. 3.4's have thicker cylinder sleeves and are able to handle a .060 overbore. So get a 3.4 block , overbore it for even more cubes.

Your best bet is to buy one from TA Creations(I was quoted $550 including shipping for a mid mile 3.4). Then after you get it , rebuild it using forged 10.0:1 ross 3.4 forged pistons .060 over bore

.060 over max

2.8 engine owners can use these pistons:

http://www.secureleadercom.com/store...tem=9&mitem=26

3.1 guys need custom pistons here:

http://www.rosspistons.com/custom/sixcylinder.php3

The best Mild stocking shelf cam is the 2030 CraneCompucam.
For best performance in a street car with altered chip:
PowerMax H-272-2
replacing:
HMV-272-2

Best overall cam is to call crower cams and have a roller cam made just for your wants and needs. Crower has the only 2.8 roller cores. Will run approximatly $500 but will crush all other cams in driveability and power.

BUT the web site you just gave me IS doing the .120 over bore???? They tell you this right on the web site.

We do not sell this engine as a kit. It is only available as a shortblock or longblock because each block must be sonic tested prior to building to ensure proper cylinder wall thickness for strength and cooling. We do all necessary machine work to the block, crankshaft, and connecting rods prior to assembly in our own In-House Machine shop in Missouri. Then, each engine is assembled by one of our qualified Engine Assembly Crew. All this leads up to an engine you can trust and get a noticeable power increase out of over the stock 2.8L engine.

So which pistons are the best and which ones will give me the 9.5 to 1 with the 3.1 rods and crank??

Thanks

Ryan,
FOR THE EFFORT ya put out, please strongly consider getting the right solution from the start.
Just get the lowest milage motor and slip it under the hood.
You won't be sorry, promise.
I never am & I enjoy my 3.4 swap every day.

Really, go for the right solution!

YOU WILL BE VERY PLEASED!!!!

But KED85 that sounds nice but IT COSTs more and it won't be my BLOCK, remember I asked you about VIN numbers matching, I want my numbers to match, other wise i'm going for the V8.

Why worry about vins anyway? If you're punching out your block that hardcore, your resale value is going to plummet anyway. I see alot of people turn away from great cars every day just because they're punched as much as .040
