So i hooked up with a bud of mine today that owns a souped up 1976 stallion maverick. He has a roller cammed 302 in it with a E303 cam, RPM intake, 650 DP carb and headers. Its actually a pretty basic engine. He's running a C4 tranny and 410 gears, it has a very noticable lope to it and 0 to 60 is not painful, but man you feel it. His car wieghs about 300 pounds more then my grabber maverick... All i gotta say is WOW.... watch out V8 camaros and firebirds... a Former V6 firebird owner is on the loose and i got revenge in my blood!!!! I run low 15's now with a bone stock 302, i will be doing headers, duels, cam, carb and manifold soon, should put me into the easy low 14's to high 13's. I pulled out the NOS and will be getting the plate setup soon, will run a 75 dose. We got a roller 302 ready for me and i am starting a 347 build with a very obnoxious cam and trickflow heads. Never fear V6 guys

You have the basis for a killer sneaky ride!
EXCELLENT!!
Go find the latest issue of Popular Hot Rod, There is a pic of a 1970-72 Maverick in an article. Nice looking late model 5 lug wheels and the Grabber hood.
You have the rear spoiler also, right?
If ya didn't have the Grabber hood, I would suggest the hood of the old Thunderbolts, that bubble top, rear air entry design. One of my Favorite Ford hood designs of all time!
Have your nine inch, yet?

Nope no scooped grabber hood on it, they didn't come on grabbers after 72 or 73. Its weird i see afew grabbers with spoilers on the back, i could have sworn i read they came with em, but the few i have seen pic's of don't have them - mine doesn't either. We think it has a Ford 9" in the rear. We know its posi, but i will not know until the car is in my driveway and i can get under it and look. Either way (if its a 8 or 9) it is posi, that we know and even the 8" can withstand what i will throw at it. I most likely will get a locker into the rear however, the guy i was riding with has one and it was decently quiet on corners. Tell ya tho, when he juiced it at the red light, they whole rear slid out from under us and that car was flat GONE. I will be running 373 gears rather then the 410's like he does. He is taching 3800 rpm at 70, altho he will be putting a T-5 into it soon, if i go that route i too will run 410's. I want to tach under 3K at 65 to 70, don't think that will happen tho with a 3 speed. I tell ya, i saw two pics of mav's the other day. One was a front/side shot, it was black and had silver twin race strips up the hood, it sported exhuast exits before the rear wheels, the seond was midnight blue, it had a scooped grabber hood and had the trans am side fender vents installed with a early camaro or trans am spoiler on the rear. I would like to do the black/silver paint job, do the exits before the rears and do the vents and spoiler. I think the two would look REALLY good together. But then the other half says, keep it stock looking. So i dunno what i will do as of yet. The basic engine i have built will take it into the high 13's, if i add gears and stall to that combo i will see low 13's easy. The 347 that will be built - i have the "blueprint" is a 425hp and 445ft/tq small block monster. Witht he 150 to 175 shot at 2750lbs (i can get the car to easy) i should see low 11's to high 10's on drag street legal tires. That will be a street driven - turn key car. In the past few days i have met more then one high 10 second mustang that weigh 300 to 600 pounds heavier and sport a 302 to 347. This car should be interesting to say the least - it has the potential to be the fastest car i have ever built/owned.
