Junk yard A/C compressors?
I have an 84 Firebird S/E w/ A/C and when I flip the switch over to A/C or max A/C the compressor doesn't even respond. Do I need a new compressor and if so, can I pull one from a car that was working? All I would then have to do would be to get the system recharged and I'd be on my way to a nice cool interior, right? Any advice on this would be great,
Thanks,
Chris

Junk yard is just that "junk"
Ive gotten pleny of good parts from junk yard but an ac compressor isnt something that I would buy used. Your problem sounds like your out of r12 or r134. I would pull the pressure swich on the condenser and stuff a paper clip in the plug that will tell you if your low on
Ref or the compressor is shot.
