tv cable only controls shift points, where it shifts in the RPMS, the tranny is a big no, its more or less fuel, try running some fuel injector cleaner through it and changing your fuel filter. if that doesnt fix it you may have a clog in the system, injectors going out, a short in the harness for them or the pumps on the way out the door

Re: dies out at half-wot
When my father and I got our project s10 blazer the 700r4 was blown and when we put the engine in it would bog out under part throttle we ended up replacing it and part throttle bog gone. Does it do the same thing when you rev it up in park? If so then I would say say check your fuel pressure or fuel filter could be clogged. Did the car do this prior to the TV cable replacement?

Re: dies out at half-wot
Well, since you've been messing with the TV adjustment, you probably need a transmission as well as a fuel filter/pump/pressure regulator/etc. I'd have to look it up for sure, but I don't think the 700R4 is designed to downshift at WOT, merely to unlock the torque converter clutch.
You don't realize that messing with the TV adjustment can kill the trans in less than 100 miles by overheating it BAD.

Re: dies out at half-wot
Better check the trans fluid, but it sounds as if a replacement is in order. If the fluid isn't blood red and it's brown or black, chances are so are the clutch plates.
Oh, and there is no fuel pump access panel on an F-body. Get ready for a 3-hour MINIMUM job pulling the rear axle and gas tank. More time for rusted bolts, and possibly more money to replace bolts and other hardware that breaks.
