Help for Carb has a Prob

I got a 2.8l with a 2bbl. rochester varajet. It is runing very lean. I have mixture screws out all the way. Do jets and niddles from rochester dual jets and qjet the same as the one in my varajet. I really need to know because i'm putting headers on soon and I need to know if i can rejet. becauise the car in running lean enough with a high flow cat and a flowmaster, not so lean that it will do any harm but lean enough to roughen the idle. what can i do?????????

I ASSUME you could try your idea.
Where ya get the parts from is one up on me.
I do understand that these things are not that friendly.
I still trying to figure out how to remove mine on my S-10 Blazer (I know it's only 4 bolts, but, try to reach them!!). I have a rebuild kit all ready for it & it's gonna get throttle plate rebushed.
I have my Helm book here for my S-10 Blazer, but, I really doubt that answer is available in there.

The four bolts on top should be star screws you will need a special screw driver.

My concern is carb removal from the vehicle engine to get to the heads to replace them!
Once it's out, 4 star screw, not a problem!

Fiream, are you sure nothing else is wrong besides the jets? Doesn't your E2SE have a mixture control solenoid? What about timing? Oxy sensor?

How do I check if my mixture control solenoid is working right??? I do need a rebuild because there is gas on top of the carb near the acelerator pump.

Your mixture Control Solenoid is electronically controlled, to create a constant 14 to 1 air fuel ratio.
From what I've been told, they do not fail. If they do, they are expensive. So expensive parts equals longevity in life (even in this carb).
Just rebuild it and EXPECT to have the throttle shaft plate rebushed to keep it leak free.
I have to do that to mine.
Find a good place.
Several years (about 7-9 yrs.) ago, my S-10 Blazer one was rebuilt @$400.
It was a good rebuild, too.
Get the thing rebuilt correct, NOT HOPPED UP & tune up the car or plan on junking it & finding another platform to work your personal goal of "more power" on.
From one that knows, don't have this carb screwed up! Hop up ignition or exhaust, not the carb! (except more fresh air into the air cleaner!)
