Headers And Ehaust

I need some help. I found 2.8 header for my 83 firebird. there hedmans' #68430. But now i need some advise. I want to run true dual exhaust. i'v came up with like 5 different plans to make the system work but none of them seem to good. The best idea i cam up with was to have pipes from the collectors run ove to the passenger side of the car into a double CAT then one pipe on one side of the part of the floor pan where in comes down lower then the rest and another pipe on the other side, into cherry bombs. Then over the axle and out the back it would look like a single exhaust comming out on one side but it would still be ture duals. I may put 2 pacesetter tip on the end to mellow the sound. I don't know, what do you guys think. does it sound good?

I am correct in stating that CT. is pretty heavy into real emissions tests?
If ya wanna, "make headers work" into one 3" cat, exit 3" from back into a two chamber Flowmaster, dual exhaust exit.
Make pipes showing, as two 3" pipes, also.

Keep in mind the amount of exhaust volume you (aren't) producing with the little 6 under your hood. It's gonna sound like crap. There isn't enough exhaust volume to make a true dual rumble. A single 3" pipe outflows our exhaust capacity. A single 3" Random Tech cat, and a single 3" dynomax or 3 chamber flowmaster and you're good.. if you want to try the bomb, go fer it, but I haven't heard any praisings of it on our cars.

Plus, unless you're welding it up yourself, just think of the $$ you could save. You could take the true-dual $$ and put it towards something else that'll do more for the engine. If many 305's and 350's are happy to breathe through one I-pipe, our V6's should be in paradise with it.

The 2.8 doesn't put out anywhere near enough exhaust flow to run a dual exhaust. A 2.5" single exhaust for that 105 horsepower motor is fine. Don't waste your money on headers and exhaust for the 2.8. Because the motor is heavily smog equipped, your $500 exhaust mod's aren't going to give you any more horsepower than stock. If you want real power and a rumbling, loud exhaust, buy a V8. There are way too many smog provisions on an early 80's 60 degree V6 to make any kind of power.

If you are looking for a 305 or 350 V8, I'll sell you one for 8 bucks.

Mr. Mopar.
