2.8L w/ 2bbl. Rochester tuning

Is it posible to get better performance out of my 2bbl. Rochester. i'm noticing at like 2200 rpm when i hit the gas to take off to go faster a slight hesitation, almost like a bogging. My friend told me it might be my acelerator pump is shot. Maybe i just need to tune it. What do you guys think?

No that is dead common!
My S-10 Blazer has done that since I got it back in 1989.
How I over came it was,
new cat convertor and then a 2 chamber Flowmaster, with dual exhausts
make a fresh air set up & a K & N, new timing chain, then played with the distributor.
I put in heavy spring to keep it in full advance position.
This really helped!!
It's the cam profile that holds it back.
IF YOUR CARB WORKS RIGHT, DO NOT PLAY WITH IT!!
It will not assist.
These tips help ya, but, yes, dead spot is there because of cam profile.

There's a book by Doug Roe called "rebuilding the rochester carburetor." It's supposed to be "THE" book for a carb rebuild. Here's the book info:

Title: Rochester Carburetors
Author(s): Doug Roe
Copyright: 1981, HP Books (Price Stern Sloan, Inc. )
Publisher: Price Stern Sloan, Inc.
ISBN#: 0-89586-301-4

The Haynes 82-92 Camaro/Firebird books also show how to rebuild the 2bbl.. but the Roe book dives deeper. http://www.bn.com (Barnes & Noble) has it for $16, you can go there and search for "Doug Roe", or try the link below:

http://shop.barnesandnoble.com/books...sbn=0895863014

I'd say buy the book, and try a rebuild. If anything, you'll just be cleaning out the over 10 years worth of crap from inside. You could always find/buy a junkyard 2bbl rochester, rebuild it, if it goes well, rebuild yours.
