Meet Matt King/Car Craft- Stated our Request for 3rd Gen Headers!

Last night, at Bob's Big Boy, I met Matt King, the Editor of Car Craft. The latest issue is a Red 1989 Firebird Formula.
Had real long chat with him.
I stated our claim/desire for street legal headers! Told him Edelbrock and Hedman make this style, but not street leagl version.
I tried.
I told him these V-6 things are the hottest engines, greatest looking street car bodies, you can get for pennies. And maintain for pennies, too!
He was pretty peaked to hear about my 2.8-3.4 swap! Oh V-8s are the main stay. And he is correct, too.
He laughed at my claim of 50 foot one leg burnouts! Because he believed it!

I'm gonna get this guys address and post it.
I hope you may write a letter to him for us and street legal headers.
And some respect.
Let's challenge his V-8 car to a drag race at Pomona.
I'll run up against him!

well ked unless you want to fab your own headers you probly will not get them. The market is just too small. If people want power they go to 8s period. Sorry but I want headers as well but I know they will never get done.

The only option I see is the 3.4 headers, all ya need to do is a little bending of one sides tubes....

I do so agree, our V-6 IS A LIMITED MARKET, but, stranger things have happened.

When was the last time you saw a new Flathead Ford V-8? Yet new heads are being made for them. Same with brake kits and conversions.
I recently got a manufacture to make a disc brake conversion kit for my First Gen Camaro. We are now trying to get him to make a conversion kit, using Corvette Brakes. But we need a bracket, MADE. We have designed it, just trying to get it going. His kit is not the only one, just part of a growing list of manufactures doing brake swap kits & such.

I do not know, but, MANY HERE seek to spend their money on our 3rd gen cars. People who are smart, want to take the money.
There is a happy compromise, possible!

I assume you enjoy spending weekends, swapping headers for exhaust manifolds for smog inspections.

How many of you know P.A.W.? I work there... we have a HUGE selection of headers, including ones for : 95-00 saturn, pinto, hyundais (all of them) etc. Now, edelbrock makes a large amount of those. I see a limited market, yet they make them. That ends that argument. BTW...they also make headers for the 4 a nd 6 cyl mustangs..

Nope...we dont. Ive looked in all my new catalogs *including some which u guys said sell them* and no company has them. I do however have numbers to special lines in the exhaust business for products (including suggestions) and hooker is one i called today and they said they would let me know by the end of the week.

Their dealer online lines...i cant give them out. Basically what it is , is some companies have dealer suggestion lines where the dealers let them know what their customers want, i called and said that to hooker so ill see.

On Thursday, I'm visiting one of the places I spoke about.
How is Mike at PAW, these days?
You out on Topanga or Sherman Way?
I know the Topanga store real well!

Let's not give up on this header idea.
I'm not on Thursday.

Hey,
The bucks is the only detail I'm in need of now. Not ready to lay it out, yet (you know the story).
BUT, would enjoy knowing how much to save for!
Hope you enjoy the store, I hear it's a real nice location.
