I'm not sure about the 88 but my 87 has a 700R4 the weird thing though is when I go to autozone to get a filter and gasket I have to but two seperate kits one the filter is right the other has the correct gasket anybody else have this problem.

Car: 1986 Firebird
Engine: 2.8 V6
Transmission: 700R4
baller, I never use the gasket that comes with the 700r4 filter set (altho, I buy Purolator #P1195 kit, which has the right gasket.) I buy a Fel-Pro #TOS-18663 gasket for the 700r4. It's of better quality than the one you find in the kit, and runs me $3 from a "real" parts store.
