looking for a flywheel

I know this isnt the right area for this but does anybody have a manual trans flywheel for 82-84 firebird,camaro with the 2.8 I cannot find any and the s10 flywheel isnt thick enough for the fbody! I figured with this being v6 forum you guys might help me out

Look on eBay... Got mine there. It's too bad I don't have my other wheel, or I'd sell it to you (got the wrong one with the trans swap parts). You may want to look for whole engines and then email the seller to see if he has a wheel for it, that's how I got mine.

BTW, it's not 82-84, it's 82-87, ANY manual trans wheel (FWD or RWD) will work as long as it has the balance weight on the engine side.

I thought they changed the balance in 85 to internal? well I know that you cant use an s10 flywheel not thick enough

I don't know who told you either one, but they're wrong in either case. The balance was changed for 88, and all of the wheels are the same before and after then. Why would they use a different flywheel on an S10 with a T5 than they did on an F-body with the same transmission? You obviously were looking at a FLEXPLATE and not a flywheel. There's a difference between the 2, mostly the price. If it cost less than about $60, it's a flexplate for an auto trans. If it cost about $150, that's what you're looking for.

well i ordered a flywheel for my bird and there is a difference a huge difference actually the s10 flywheel was 3/4 of an inch where as the firebird flywheel was 1 1/2 thick! just thought i would follow up so this can maybe help somebody else
