Can I get Headers for my 89 2.8 FireChicken??
Hey There. I just picked up another 89 firebird... yes another 2.8 I was wondering where I can find a nice set of big tube headers. This car isnt going to have a 2.8 much longer but I still want the headers for my show car which has the 2.8 in it. This bird has a nifty 500HP 4.3 is store for it and a roll cage and some pretty PHAT suspension upgrades for the next winter...
but for now I just want to play around this spring with a razzy sounding exhaust.
thanks in advance

Me and another guy got some of the last remaining V6 headers for our cars last week out of the sky they pretty much fell.. Take some 3.4 headers and ddo some minor mods to the passangeer side I think it was and they will work.

I am the other guy in question. Yeah we both lucked out b/c this guy who owns a speed shop had them in his warehouse since '87 when they were last made and discontinued and just found them & he only had to pairs. So I told some guys here about it & Brian K was the first one to jump on it.
All you need to do is have a muffler shop heat bend the 3.4L headers so that they can curve around the engine and not hit anything.
Hey Brian K have you received your headers yet? B/c I haven't received mine.

have some hope. I took 93-95 3.4 firebrd/camaro headers and heated them with a torch to bend them , so they cleared the frame. Then I had a Y-pipe made at the muffler shop, so if you want headers bad enough thats the way to go.

No not yet Brian. I just got them yesterday. But it won't be until the 2nd week of January till I get them intalled w/ the whole new exhaust system and crap. B/c I am going to send them out to get coated and stuff. I went buck wild w/ all this stuff that I bought for my car these past 2 months that I have to save for X-mas gifts and stuff so I have to wait but here is what they look like bro. It's only one header (too lazy to pull the other one out of the box) but you get the idea w/ one though. Later

Hey Brian, the rear exit of the headers is 2.25".
Tom you will love this part: I am going to dedicate a special page on my web site to the installation of the headers on my car. I will take so many pictures (that it won't even be funny) and post them on my web site. Sound cool guys.

When I had the 2.8 engine in my firebird I wanted headers too. Being in the same boat you were I decides to try some 2.8 headers for an S-10. They worked for the most part. You will need to get the Y-pipe cut and modified. If you have an automatic tranny you should have no problems. If you have a standard tranny with a slave cyclinder like I did you will have to cut part of the collector on the driver side header. Also you will have to remove the heat shield on the slave cylinder. Maybe put some header tape in that area. You might also try shorty style headers but you will have to find someone who can get fancy with bending pipes since there will be only about 1 in clearance between the end of the header and the engine support frame.

Hey bro those aren't s-10 headers. They are the actual original headers made for the 82-87 2.8l Firebird/Camaro. Some guy who owned a speed shop had them in the back of his warehouse and sold them on Ebay and I got the 1st pair & Brian got one directly from him. Later

Mike, the ones I bought were not from E-bay. I bought them from summit about 2 years ago. They were in fact S-10 headers made by hedman for the 2.8. I ordered them for an S-10 because no one made headers for a 2.8 V-6 for the firebird at the time.

Hey JJ the HE comes in a few different sizes to be exact. They have the HE210 (10"), HE212 (12" my subwoofer), & I believe they have a HE215 don't recall off hand though. But those HE212's are a 12" subwoofer anf they put out a max power of 800 watts and a peak power of 400watts. The system is hitting a 161.8 db at sound quality levels, I would hate to hear that damn thing at db Drag levels, OUCH!!!!!!!!
I'm still thinking of adding 2 more 12"'s but not too sure yet, it's still up in the air though. Later bro
