Re: badist of the bad
About 180hp 210ft/lbs out of a 3.4/3400 hybrid suffocating with a crappy 2.8 cam jammed in it. Should gain another 40hp with the correct cam and another 30hp with a 3500 plenum and 65mm throttle. And that's with a tame 9.07:1 compression. A more dedicated n/a motor using 3500 heads could approach 350hp.

Haven't dynoed it yet, but I should have about the same 3.4 N/A #s as pilsbry's "3.4 = 174hp and 210 tq" which is rwp, at the crank thats about 200 hp and 240 tq, maybe a little more since his clutch was slipping badly.

Re: badist of the bad
a 4th gen mustang gt with a 4.6 sohc v8 making 260 hp and 300 tq runs a 14.2, unless that was with a 100 shot of nitrous I don't see that happening....
I don't doubt that a 3.1 could make that much power one bit, but it wouldn't run a 14.0 in a quarter mile.

Re: badist of the bad
3.4 block + 2.8 crank = 3.0L
gives u a nice larger bore and a short stroke for high rpms
motor is deffinatly going to be weak down low, but its main purpose will be drag racing so its not that important since this motor will spend the majority of its time near redline

Re: badist of the bad
no 3.1 would have a longer stroke crank with a smaller bore
2.8/3.1 share the same bore size butt diff cranks
3.4 uses same crank as the 3.1 but has a larger bore

j.e did my pistons they have a 16cc dome .005 in the hole with .045 quench
11.03-1 cr
pistons were 137 bucks each
may have the block decked to bring the pistons to 0 deck and bump cr up just a lil
and yes 11.03-1 is high but this is built for runnin on e85

Re: badist of the bad
A bunch of people have talked about building one but as far as I know noone has. You may be the first. Which really sucks because (I'm guessing) it's iron headed.
I was looking at e85 for my next project. Super high rpm, super high compression, super light s10 using the junk I have left over after nuking the 2.8. Pretty much just going to slap 3400 heads on a stock 2.8 long block for 14:1 cr and zing it out as high as I can with a flat tappet regrind. Budget is $300 lol.

yes its iron headed but they are far from stock including the chambers, lots of welding work and machine work went into these heads the only thing that sucks is i couldnt reduce the chamber volume i had to increase it to get the chamber shape i was after , thats why i had to go with 16cc domes on the pistons
only thing that suclks about e85 is u need to flow so much fuel stock fuel lines become a rstriction around 300-350 hp hell my tiwin walboros are only good to about 600 hp on e85 on gas u could get dam near 1000hp worth of fuel flow out of the pair

We all have money into our cars, but most of us can prove our times. Do you have a time slip from the track or a dyno slip? Or are you just guessing?

Re: badist of the bad
you got more than a zexel torsion posi, 4.10 or 3.73 gears (I've had both), fully built 700r4 with all the bells and whistles, 2200-2400 stall convertor? Oh yeah, that doesn't touch the work that was done to the motor. I'd go so far as to say there's not another one of these motors on the street built like mine was. (I say "was" because its all in pieces in the garage, now.
Seems like there was somebody on here a while back who was sprayin and tryin to claim that's naturally aspirated... wasn't you, was it?
And please, type words, I don't enjoy reading when I have to guess what words are supposed to be. what's "sp"?

Re: badist of the bad
LOL I like how he added the "suffocating with a crappy 2.8 cam" part to mine. I have the roller cam back in now and my datalogging stuff is showing me 219hp and 214ft/lbs with a 3100 plenum. No track time to verify this though.
I wouldn't say mine should be on the the 'baddest of the bad' list though. Wait till I get twin t3/t4's on it.

I think I remember reading on the fiero forums that redraif had a 3.4 w/ rwTQ at around 260 after the trueleo, but had crap for rw HP... like 143hp... that car was N/A right? Think it barely broke into the 16's

Its been so long that I can't remember (I did most of the mechanical work on that car) the exact hp/torque figures, but I'm pretty sure the HP was higher than that. It was still on a stock tune, though, and I'm sure it could have picked up a lot more. The car wasn't run through the 1/4 with the Trueleo or any of the other later mods, and the check engine light was on when it made that 16 sec run...that was at least a year previous. It felt much stronger last time I was in it, about like a stock 305 TPI car.

Re: badist of the bad
Yeah, a cracked head prompted the last major re-do; I had everything out. The whole drivetrain, wiring, plumbing...all of it. Last I saw the car, it basically just lacked re-plumbing and finishing up the wiring to get it going again. The engine compartment re-paint that I did wasn't up to her standards, though (it was done in my dad's garage)...I think the clear was bad...so the whole thing just stopped, until it could be repainted by someone with a booth. I don't think that ever happened. I haven't seen her, or the car, in about 3 years. Its a shame, too...LOTS of work was done that would have taken the car to a new level.
