Re: My 3400 T '88 camaro
Go the pass side kind of figured out...
Gate goes here someplace :
I'll make the Xover pipe go through the loop in the exhaust there, then right after I'll put that wastegate there as well, so they'll be kind of beside each other with a straight dump towards the ground... I think the twinscroll housing, dual gates and headers are all going to fit.
ALSO, this came in, with the M10 nozzle :

I'm diaspointed...
That beautiful passenger side header and then cobbling up a driver side manifold that is upside down so the ports won't line up right....
Shame, shame....

I know this is a noobie question; but your car is still RWD correct? I want to do this swap myself considering it's not FWD

Harness all loomed / cleaned up.
Meth pump, nice and low for a good prime.
But, does it run ??
Code59 + 60# injectors + 55 psi fuel pres + 216/224 (0.050) cam =
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJeeAuQL_7M
=
somewhat of an idle.
I just stuck a bullet muffler on there for the moment for the neighbours, its kinda late... HAHA.
So there you have it folks, just more tunning ahead, but I'm now confident we'll get the thing dialed in.
More mail today :
Watch out V8 / 3800 cars...

Re: My 3400 T '88 camaro
Found a really decent local Camaro board and a guy had all kinda goodies for sale... haha I bought some of course.
Harwood Hood, pin on ready for paint.
Edelbrock 3" catback.
Muffler it came with (for sale)
Muffler I am going to use, much lighter and better flowing, The turbo should quiet it down enough.
Aluminum driveshaft
Cragar 14X7's. Painted them flt. blk. Going to order some BFG radial TA's 245/60 in back 205/70 up front.
That is all.

Re: My 3400 T '88 camaro
So, I put a few miles on the car this week..
Ran into some issues, small stuff that I'll fix next week.
Waterpump is leaking from the weep hole. New one comes in tomorrow. Old one's already removed.
LC-1 Wideband stopped working all of a sudden. (first problem I had with it since 2006) I'll buy another one I guess.
My trans cooler line has a small leak.
Car is WAY WAY too damn loud. I made 3" catback with a single bullet muff to replace the sidepipe, but I haven't heard it yet. It'll likely be pretty loud, still, but should be far better than the no cat no muffler sidepipe. haha
Next up is to make a 3.5" downpipe, to 3.5" cutout, then choke that down to 3" catback, quiet on the street, high flow for the track.
Other than that, it runs very well.
Has roughly as much power at 6 psi now than it did at 11 psi before. The 65mm turbo only spools a bit after 4000RPM. Which is kinda high, but it blows the tires away when it does spool (I've only used 6 psi so far) I think it will be down right violent at 14+ psi. (when the turbo is in the efficient range)
Time will tell.
Also this turbo is LOUD when it spools, the BOV is freaking crazy loud now, there's a ton of airflow going on. Not going to be a sleeper that's for sure.

Re: My 3400 T '88 camaro
Exhaust semi-complete - Will be 3.5" from the downpipe, to a 3.5" cutout, then choke down to this Edelbrock 3" mangled catback, bullet muffler no cat.
New drag tires :
Centerline knockoffs, 15X8.5, fit real nice.
That's all for now, been driving it around gingerly, it pulls HARD when the turbo spools. (around 4100 - 4300 RPM) 6 psi so far. (My EBC is off for the moment, till I get a tune)
Very fun right now. Needs ALOT more tunning though. Slowly getting it there...

Re: My 3400 T '88 camaro
3.5" downpipe. (ahh, look how cute the old small 3" one is)
Note the cutout plate to be welded in and an electronic 3.5" cutout installed for when immidiate spool is required. (and the radio's not playing a good song)
I was going to go with 4" but there's only about a 40* angle in the downpipe and with the cutout open it's about 3 feet of 3.5" pipe. I'd say that'll support pretty much whatever the motor will be able to put out. HAHA.

If you haven't bought a WBO2 yet, look at getting the DIY_SLC from 14point7.com I have one that I use for tuning other's cars, since it has a built in display (that can be removed if you don't want it), and a about 7 or 8 other inputs, including RPM, manifold pressure EGT, and 4 or so 0-5V inputs. It also costs less than the LC-1 and is made by a guy in T.O. I picked mine up from him at his home.

My LC1 is going on 3 years installed in my car, and when it dies, I'll replace it with an SLC.

I blew my engine. I wiped the locating dowel off the cam, lost valve timing and bang carnage all around. New motor is going in tonight and I'm running the 1/4 on sat. Should have updates soon.

Re: My 3400 T '88 camaro
Ok, well here are the blowup details, I was driving to breakfast on a local road, 18 psi... hahaha Crunch, bang, snap, coast into a shopping mall parking lot. Damage report :
Noticed all my pistons had been hit by the valves, which I found a little wierd...... turns out my camshaft locating dowel was wiped off the cam, lost my cam timing. The valves hit the pistons and bam caused it to blow a rod.
I may have gotten a bad / weak cam ? The cam bolt was good and tight when it came apart, and when I did the original install it was torqued to spec.., so I know all that was tight.
Also the newer style of timing set was holding up great. Gears and chain showed virtually no wear. This is the tiny chain that would come stock on a '06 G6.
Picked up 2 more motors, the price was right at 400$ for the pair. 72,000 and 76,000 Kilometers.
More pics here of how this really buggered up EVERYTHING. lol.
Pan, I just about re-used it because it already has the #10 oil drain fitting..., then noticed the crack... see beside my bottle opener skeleton fish there...
Inside :
See the pin stayed attached to the gear...
Bent Valves :
and results from weekend racing :
A picture of a picture that I bought from the track photographer...
Vids to come.
The racing was rained out today. Last night made it to 8th place but lost due to a -0.012 red. I staged a little deeper than usual to cut a real close one and well, I shouldn't have done that. It bit me.
Car ran a best of 12.3 @ 5 psi. I tried it at 8 psi and it still went 12.3, but was missing and running like crap due to too much fuel. At 5 pounds it ran just awsome though.
I ran without a hood cause it was flopping around at 100+MPH. Everyone that walked by the car stopped and looked in, car turned alot of heads cause it's not the same old SBC camaro... Can't wait to really unleash the potential of it.
Hooks hard, no wheelspin at all cause the turbo takes a while to spool.
I'll have vids later on.

congrats man and awsome pic.
now i have a new goal to shoot for considering u will be in the 11's once u get that tune sorted out .
my 3.1 is close but im pretty sure im at the limit without running obscene boost levels.my 3.0 should be a much better match
btw u now hold the record for the fastes v6 powered 3rdgen fbody excluding the tta. the previous record was 12.4@ 118 so again congrats

Maybe the 60v6 record, there's the white 3rg gen Camaro with a Series II 3800 in the 10's.

Re: My 3400 T '88 camaro
So I went to Sparta for test and tune, got a bit quicker. 11.92, 12.02, 12.06 @ 8 PSI. Ran a couple of 12.2's at 5 psi.... All around 113-115MPH
I tried 15 psi and ran 12.0. It's cutting out really bad under higher boost. I think my plugs are fouled. The tune is better now, but still, there's a missfire pretty much anytime over 8-9 psi and it snuffs the spark. It never used to do that... Maybe my ign module is ****ed ? Im not sure. I'll figure it out, then we'll get into the deep 11's
Likely the plugs...
