Of course it's a 60*.
I'm in the middle of working on a few of my cars right now, so I don't have too much time... So i'll make this quick

How large of a wet shot can a bone stock 60* take?

i think once youve had a thirdgen you will always miss it, good news then !
just hook up the nos start small and build it up to see how it handles, then let me know :-)
do you have an xr4ti ?

100 shot would be no issue as long as the motor is in good condition.

i would get an msd with timing retard and a larger fuel pump for anything more

Yeah, there are a few things I can't get over: 3rd gens, turbofords, DSM's, and Volvos.
I sold my Xr4ti 2 years ago, and have kicked myself every day since for it.
I'm thinking it should be able to take a 2stage 150 shot.

I'll get that first, definitely. I'm thinking it should be able to take more than that, though. My bone stock, 200k mile saturn SC2 held a 100shot for 45k miles...
We'll see. I daily drive my 330rwhp turbo Volvo 240 wagon, so my 3rd gen will be a fun "no worries" project.
Thanks!

Re: Sold my 'bird a while back, getting another. Want a dd. TIME FOR SPRAY!

we had one meber here a while back do a build for a 200 shot but he gave up on it after having some issues with the engine rebuild.

i know we have guys running 75hp shots no issues and i think 1-2 ppl have done 100 shots as well.

i personally have a dual nozzle 100 shot on my car but im Afraid to use it.im already pushing big numbers with my turbo and the motor is brand new so i dont want to blow it up just yet

Wow. My last 3rd gen was a stock 60* with a t5. I loved it, but I want more. I've been in forced induction for years, so it's nothing new to me. What kind of numbers are you producing, if you don't mind me asking?

no actual dyno time, was supposed to goto a dyno but issues kept me from going.

but based on et and speed vs car weight i should be making somewere in the area of 380hp at the crank @ 9psi

im pretty much on the flow limit of my turbo so a lager turbo will put a nice jump on those numbers

gota update the sig but im running a t3/t4 hybrid 46 trim

here check this out

You've just motivated me.
I know what I want to do now! How's it to work on? Is there a good amount of space under there with the turbo setup?

the only thing i would change with this single setup would be to move the turbo out from infront of the motor to nexto/infront of the altanator with the turbo inlet facing the front of the car

but this should give u the general idea

i recently switch to twin t3 60 trims but there comming back off the car.
i just got some great info on a holset he351 vgt turbo that can support around 700 crank. the turbos can be had for 100-250 bucks.
so im going back to a single turbo setup

im going to put a 90* elbow on the header to move the turbo out to the side of the motor this time around

this will be the turbo im going to

the elctronic vgt actuator can be removes and replaced with a standard interbnal wg actuator can be used to control the vgt vanes
which is great u can start with pretty uch the eqiv of a t3 .48 hosing to get it spooled up, and transition to a t4 1.xx housing for flow on the top end once it spooling.

to give u an idea with the vanes closed this guy is getting 1 psi of boost @ 1,600 rpms with a stock 2.4L motor he opens the vanes up at 10 psi and had 24 psi by 4,200 rpms this turbo should work very very well

Trust me, I know holsets . They're pretty much all I run. I just sold my old H1C a month back, and how i'm in the market for an He351 also.
That's going to be crazy!

BTW, those manifolds are sex! Did you make them?

thanks

yeah i do all my own fab work, the headers are made out of 321 and 316L .065 wall tubbing, flanges i machined out of 316L plate.only reason i have stainless header other then the fact they will outlive the car, is i didnt have to pay for materials, i had the stuff laying around the shop.all in total there is about 1,200 bucks in material just in the headers.

heavy gauge mild steel will work fine and only be 1-200 bucks for material

i deffinatly cant wait to get the he351 on the car 500+ hp should be no problem

Those things are seriously badass. Nice fab work! Your setup is going to be a perfect template for my car. Thanks.
I look forward to seeing some new vids with that Holset!

if you run like a 75 shot o a stock one thats in good condition are you going to run into problems if you only use it once in a great while? or should the motor be fine for a while?

It should be fine if you don't use it too often, but running nitrous can be addictive. it's all about how much. how much are you willing to push it, how much can it handle, and how much money do you have to fix whatever you break?

i supose the other Question is how much Hp will you gain with a 50/75/100 shot, anybody had experience with this on a stocker or mild 3rd gen v6 ? i would like an 'overtake' button on my dash, so wouldnt need massive hp gain, just enough to know i can get past someone without being hung out to dry.

most kits are rated at rwhp now so if its a 100 shot u get 100 at the wheels.

just call up the manufactures tech line before u buy it and ask if its rated at the crank or wheels

Re: Sold my 'bird a while back, getting another. Want a dd. TIME FOR SPRAY!

yeah but different cars respond differently, i know someone who stuck on 50 shot and gained 75whp, and ive herd of someone using 75 and getting 60 so i was wondering if we know how well our motors respond, i would have thought pretty well since we have so much trouble getting the oxygen in the first place.

ya see my thing is I dont get out and race very much, and I won't at all for a while cause of it being winter, but when summer rolls around I will a couple nights a month, and I don't have the time/money to do big mods(especially to a v6) so I just wanted something that is there to make me competitive when I want to be.

Re: Sold my 'bird a while back, getting another. Want a dd. TIME FOR SPRAY!

I've run a 75 HP Nitrous shot on my 1992 3.1 V6 for years without problems. It was set for 75 HP gain at 850 PSI bottle pressure. That pressure equates to around 70-75 degrees F. When it was really hot outside, and the bottle would be around 1100 PSI, it would really kick.

You will definitely feel the difference. You can do some really awesome burnouts with it too.

In fact, I will sell you the system that I just took off of my car. It is a Nitrous Oxide Systems, and it is a dry-flow. I've got kids now, my car has over 210K miles on it, and I haven't used it in a couple of years.
