2.8 supercharger question
I see a number of fellows turbocharging their 2.8 mpi's Anybody using a supercharger. Is there a unit out there that works with the 2.8 mpi. Hope this is not a stupid question. It interests me and I would like to learn more about it. Dan V

and that one was not designed for an MPFI. It was for a carb s10.
Some guy somewhere had a 91 3.1 that he put a novi supercharger on. It was not on this site, but I found that much.

Have been out bid by just a few dollars a few times on the Ford 3.8 V6 supercharger I plan on putting on my 2.8
It will be a side mount SC like they do on allot of rice cars. Mine would mount where the AC went and it would stay FI. Only thing that needs made is a bracket and a bottom collection box and tubing to route air into the TB.
Most come with the top hat and I dunno if you could mount a 2nd top hat on the bottom. But you just mount your MAF and such before the SC.
Sort of really simple.
Why the Ford one??? The Buick and chevy ones have a mile long snout on them that just wouldn't work. The Ford one is nice and short.
check them out on Ebay and youll see what I mean. Though not all come with the top hat. And the Ford ones go 4 cheap.

best bet would be a p600b cetrifugal or a remote mount m90 the cent one will prolly require more work in making the bracket and tensonor assembly bolt up

Bunch of pics from one of the projects, not mine just have the pics.
Do believe there was also a home made spacer between the blower and intake made with some valve springs installed for a pop off valve. So if there was a back fire under load it could bleed off pressure and not blow up the super charger.

ive lkearned on ebay dont just put up a minimum bid put up the max amount ur willing to spend this way u dont get into a bid war and lose out in th last seconds just cause u were trying to not bid as high.

It was perfessionally ported and rebuild by Zeal Engineering. The refesh kit alone was $80 when I bought it for a project that never came through (hmm, about 1.5 yrs ago lol).

crytical point has a positive displacement supercharger and gumby is refering to a centrifugal. the posi displacement is much more of a custom job because crytical point will be modding his intake exessively to make it work, but has more low end torque than centrifugal. centrifugal is more like a belt driven turbo, better at high end and mounts just like any accesory.

For a cheap/easy S/C, the Eaton remote mount is the way to go if you have the fabrication skills.

if somone wanted to play with a lim off an iron head engine it is possible to mount the m90 to it.i toyed with the idea of swaping from turbo to an m90 but i just decided to stick with the turbo.
the lim can be modified pretty easy and i do belive i have a few drawings ill have to see if i cant find them and post them
though the way i came up with will not fit under a stock hood u would need at minum a 2.5 inch cowl hood

Has anyone ever looked into the idea of paying a shop to fabricate a turbo/SC and install it on your 2.8/3.1 respectively? That seems like it would be a much easier route.
For that matter, a member who knows about this stuff could probably make a lot of money on here by offering turbo/SC services.... Has anyone tried that?

front snout on the chevy ones is to long, why I like the ford one.

It's good for who ever wants it. I listed it on ebay at one point but was asking $175 at the time and it never reached that due to shipping. I'll sell it to a TGO member for $125 plus shipping though
Dave, my name is joHn lol. it's about 4". I belive it will clear if someone was to make an adapter to fit the LIM.
BTW, tell Rob to send the TB already!!! :P

if somone wants to give it a go ill make new drawings to make up the m90 adapter. i cant find the ones i did but an adapter can be made with pretty much some cutting tools and a tig wleder and some aluminum plate

lol cant do that, i can give u just plain olkd drawings and ud have to make the files urself, ehh i wish my sister was stilla round she used to work with 3d design stuff and could make up some really good drawings.
but what u came up with was basically leaving the lower intack and cuttingd down the middle section so it just cleared the fuel rail.
then u can radius in the corners of the runnerrs and pretty much fab in a tray.
box in the tray about 1 inch and then make the lid
u would pretty much have to make the base and top out of 1/4 thick aluminum the sides only need to be 1/8 inch
but witht he 1/4 inch top cutout for the opening on th blower its thick enough to not flex and u have room to drill and tap the mounting holes for the blower
think of it as that plenum i built but smaller, doing it this way will allow u to keep the port injectors and the whole assembly can bolt down from the top side
but u would have to make it so the tray section was able to be bolted down to allow access to the mid runer and fuel rail bolts
ill see about drawing some stuff up later its really pretty simple, if somone can use them fine, im sure somone will eventually get an m90 mounted one way or another lol
