What rims are you guys talking about? I just see a set of maro rims in the pics in above.. sounds like you're talking about a set of steel rally wheels tho...

Re: Man Down...Time for new car.

have you had any luck with the tranny, i know that was a while ago but i want to throw this in anyway, i have a friend who had to ship a large item across the country ( TN to CA) and Ups was gonna charge him $250 for shipping, so he just went out and bought it a Greyhound Bus ticket it took about 10 days to get there but he saved $200

Re: Man Down...Time for new car.

Ive decided to stick the tranny that I have back in. It ran very well before I took everything out...so I figured it will work.

Now if, between now and when I'm ready to put everything back in, I find enough spare cash Ill probably get one. But I'm not really concerned about that...I'm more worrying about getting the engine runnable and getting my car back with the repairs done.

Re: Man Down...Time for new car.

A little update...Not much to report but Ive been putzing around a little here and there. My hours at my job have once again been cut WAY back, so I haven't had the money to buy certain things that I still need. I got the injectors all wired up to work with the old wire harness...

I also got the TB spacer all situated...
Name: 100_1314.jpg
Views: 74
Size: 59.7 KB

Still waiting on a crank pulley and some fittings...once I get those I can get the timing wheel, spacers, and oil pan on.

Other that that Ive got 2 holes in the UIM, and 1 in the LIM to tap and plug...a couple misc wires to lengthen, hook up some new sensors, and get my fuel system bought and installed.

I cant wait till I get my car back ( ) and I can have some REAL updates.

Well here we go again. It has been entirely, 100%, undoubtedly, and painfully to long since I had my car in my possession. But......

......She got her first bath at home again. The paints not perfect...but it will work for me...I just want to drive the damn thing!!!

There are still things that need to be done. They didnt bolt up the GFX on the driver side...and they lost the nuts for the front of that GFX...My exhaust tips are now a teal color ...and the bolts in the frame are still in there

But at least I have it back and I can get it done. All that I still need to get/do before I can drop the engine in is get those bolts out and deal with the transmission.

Who would have thought 2 bolts could be so stubborn?
I would :P couldn't even tell you how many hours I've spent on stubborn bolts, nothing as bad as yours, but lets just say I wish I had got that 25" breaker bar a lot sooner than I did, oh and that one exhaust manifold bolt bottom left side in the back when looking at car, and stripped the head on another...finally have that thing torn down though, I'm not rebuilding the bottom end for now due to lack of time/money and tools..but I plan to on phase 2 when I max out the engine's N/A potential and prepare it for twin turbos...

Anyways, Nice to say someone else restoring a camaro to its former glory, and working with what they have. I'm rebuilding my 2.8 to a hybrid as well....in fact could use some advice or possibly even help, whereabouts near pgh are you? I live in Coraopolis/moon twp.

I hope your changing out at least your pistons...if you use your original 2.8 pistons with the FWD heads, the compression will be super high...probably around 12.8:1

Oh don't you worry...the only reason I'm waiting to put it on is to get the motor broken in. Seeing how this is my first build I want to make sure everything goes smoothly....that and I want to see what she makes on a dyno before the turbo...

OK....so here's where I'm at now...

There is no power to anything. Battery was dead and wouldn't hold a charge anymore so I buy a new one....still nothing. No headlights, interior lights, brake lights.....nothing.

Everything I can see is hooked up correctly...I'm completely stumped...

Check the voltage at points along the path. Use the DMM to find where the break is.

I would be looking at the fusable links personally.

I checked the voltage at the battery, the little junction behind the passenger headlights, and the alternator and they all read 12-12.5v. I never messed with the wires on the interior of the car. I also checked a bunch of the fuses under the das and they all looked good.

Could it be a bad ECM? I know that I had to replace it before I started the rebuild.

I'm thinking perhaps he doesn't have the battery grounded? Or maybe its loose? I would also check the wires going to the starter solenoid cause I believe if one of those is disconnected it can also kill the electric.

Re: Man Down...Time for new car.

Ok so Im still trying to track down this electrical issue. Ive checked more places and I seem to have power everywhere in the engine bay...just not in the car. And as far as I can tell I don't have power to the fuse box under the steering wheel.

Quick question. What are these?? They are right off the little junction block behind the passenger headlights...

Fusible links, basically they are inline fuses to prevent an overload.

Re: Man Down...Time for new car.

one of those fusable links provides power for the cooling fan. junction also for the alternator. i had to replace of of the links with a new inline fuse.

also check the wires at the starter. if all the wires are not hooked up right no power inside the car.(4 i think)

That's what I thought they were...just wasn't sure.

I'll have to check the starter when I get back from work. Didn't know a bad connection at the starter could kill all the power

Well I got the electricity problem fixed and guess what?

I have to part ways with the whole car. I cant keep it anymore. Money, space, among others have made it time to part ways. So close...yet so far.

There's a post in the Camaros for sale section.
