my really trick Fiero valve covers
After some creativity, alot of work and even more patience, I refinshed some old beat up fiero valve covers to put on my car.

Re: my really trick Fiero valve covers
Thanks guys. Basically I degreased the crap out of them. Then used a die grinder with a light duty disc and sanded off all the paint, dings and pits. Then painted the entire thing red with 3-4 coats. Then sanded off the top only to bring back the aluminum color. (The die grainder gave it the brushed look..really cool looking up close) Then washed it down in soap. Then clear coated them with 5-6 coats. I'm really proud of them. Ironically, now I might be getting my LS1 swap alot sooner than I expected so who knows, I will probably wind up selling these before installing them.

Awesome...I got my fiero covers too and took off the paint like you did..what a pain..I had to use a die grinder with a sanding disc attached. The paint was tough to get off..I have them stripped ,but I have to find my paint color cause they arent getting painted red again..I wish I could of used the top plenum from the fiero as well cause that one looks awesome with the valve covers ,but had to junk it,but I kept the chrome bolts for the from top plenum.Great Job..

Why couldn't they have made the plenum's a little better looking??

Re: my really trick Fiero valve covers
I hear you there ...that stock plenum looks like crap..I was thinking of polishing the ribs and maybe painting the inners?..or maybe sanding the inners to a polished look and paint the ribs a matching color to the valve covers??...havent decided. Can say the fiero covers are the ticket..I even kept the bolts to hold down the covers too...cause they are a little wider due to the size of the hole.I got lucky and got the whole fiero motor for free and took what I needed off it and sold it for 50 bucks.I got the heads ,which I ported and just needs a valve job and the covers and had the plenum but gave it away..couldnt use it anyway..SO I plan on swapping the cylinder heads ,cam ,and valve covers sometime when I gather all the parts..and get away from work to do it.

One more thing about the fiero covers,I hear they can cover some bigger rocker arms..1.6??..I dont think anybody makes a full roller rocker for these engines?maybe someone will chime in and let us know?..Unless you install some V8 studs then you could run the full rollers?Anybody done this task yet?..I know they make a roller tip rocker ,but do they make a full roller for the v6 stud??..I think I heard the 1.6 's will hit the stock valve cover..the fieros have much more clearance...the fiero covers are the ticket.

Crane makes a stud that adapts the 10mmx1.5 threaded holes to 3/8's, and then you can use SBC rockers.

No SH%T??...I guess I was wrong.I read someone mentioned that the stock covers wont clear the longer rocker...Maybe it was different motor?..were those on your 3.1?..did you run the stock cam with those 1.6 or 1.7??..What about the full rollers?..think they will clear the stock covers too?..

Really? I've heard from everyone multiple times that 1.6 or higher will hit the stock covers. Fiero covers are needed for the extra lift. I'll take your word for it though
