Re: Building a 2.8!
I think it is great!! Build what you want to build, we all have our own opinion on what we would do in the situation. Me for example, Im pulling my 3.1/A4 combo out this summer for a fresh 3.8L Turbo from an 87 Buick Grand National. I'm mating it up to a TH400 and am gonna take this car into the 11's from the beginning and maybe 10's when I can learn and afford it.
Me personally I'd rather do that or a SBC swap. But it is cool just to see one less beat up camaro/firebird driving down the road. Have fun with the rebuild!!!

Re: Building a 2.8!
Everytime someone post about building a 2.8 or 305 they get" do a 3.8 or 350." Is there anyone that doesn't know the advantage of displacement? Now that being said, people build 2.8's and 305's because they want too. It's ok to say it's easier to get more hp from a 3.8 or 350,what dumb *** doesn't know that? It's not so much suggesting this or that, it's "they're junk or don't waste your time" that pisses me off. Instead of giving helpful advice the thread turns into a negative thing.Just to put things into perspective, guys with big blocks probably think guys with 350 are wasting their time.
Thanks Maxboost for saying this. All of my friends say the same thing when I tell them about building my car up. (86 bird 2.8). Keep us updated on how things go with the build as I am looking into replacing the dead 2.8 in a couple months.

Re: Building a 2.8!
u probably already know this but a 3.4 is a direct drop in from a 2.8 it's even already got the performance cam in it. But if ur looking for a nice v6 the 4.3 is basically a 350 with 2 cylinders chopped off. But a 3.4 will use ur 2.8 harness computer and everything for an awesome thread check out the tech articles for the swap boogie.
