brake booster vacuume canister question

i no longer have cruise control. the only other thing that runs off of the vaccume on that side of the plenum flange is the hvac controls. do they need the vaccume canister (orb of power) ? do the brakes need that canister? i beleave the check valve (pictured) prevents vacuume canister vaccume from going back toward the plenum, if i am right on this i should be able to remove that vaccume canister with no adverse effects on my braking system right?

Yes, removing the "orb of power" will have no effect on your brakes. It may effect the HVAC controls though.

does teh ord have jsut one nipple or two? (no beavis & butthead laughs please) if 2, then maybe run the hvac off of it. if one, then maybe secure one of teh squeare vacuum cannisters if you don't have one.
