I don't know for sure but isn't the screw type better then the belt driver turbo type? Screw type has more area.

Pics are gone but on the http://www.kennebell.net site they had pics of a side mount screw blower. Was a tiny sucker. There is lots of room on the sides of the V6.

Just happen to see this pic today also.
That looks about the size needed.

I've located an old press release published in Super Chevy March 1994
"Gearing Up"
Recognized as one of the pioneers (this company was once McCullough Superchargers, yeah those chain saw people) in centrifugal superchargers, Paxton Products (1260 Calle Suarte, Camarillo, CA 805-987-5555) has improved their line of belt driven superchargers with their new SN93, VR-4 & the state of the art NOVI/GSS. Featuring a series of gears rather than bearings, the NOVI/GSS (Granetelli Signature Series) is similar to previous Paxtons save for improved seals, self-contained lubrication system & boost pressures approaching 30 PSI. 50 state smog legal versions of the NOVI/GSS are available & produce 10PSI boost.

I think its cool that there is more power sources being adapted to our engines specifically in thirdgens. I used to be excited that there was a roots supercharger (fagel), but I had mpfi and it was for the carbed motors.

I thought about a supercharger all week since A/C has barely worked in 5 years and just about the entire system needs replacing so it has to go and super would fit nicely in there making some power instead of stealing it during the summer.

Its real easy to talk about it and dream about it, when it comes down to reality adding power is expensive, very expensive and so many things can and do go wrong. I can only afford to keep my 2.8l running well and a few mods here and there when I can feasible do so.

I would like to see some more turboed, supercharged, or heavily modified 60 degree engines, but I certainately won't be one of those people, unfortunately, got to pay the bills before paying for speed.

well from that pic i really like the way it looks
but where dose the altronator go?

i really like how they keep the dual snorkel intake
the only problem is if i had 2200 what now i bet "now"would be 2500- 3000

id just end up buying a 90+ v8 rs and putting tpi on it

i just cant see putting something like that into my v6
now maybe if the car was mint it would be a totaly differant story
but hell if i win the lottery or something ill do it along with a nice 3.4 swap

The alt is still there hidden behind the supercharger in the factory position. The pulley below the SC is the idler tension pulley for the second serpetine belt drive for the supercharger only thus the supecharger is sitting in front of the alt.

The top of the alt housing is flush level with the egr valve you see so it is lower than the massive supercharger housing sitting in front blocking its view.

If I can acquire one of these kits, I will have a few troubles in mounting it and will have to move a few goodies I have added to the car like the STB and the speader bar I custom made. My alt bracket on the 140amp alt may need to be rethought so the discharge tubing will clear the s-route over the alt and I will possibly have to mount the future electric remote Meziere waterpump on the other side of the engine bay over the steering box. Nothing I can't work out though.

A really fast V6 that's good on gas.
Or a equally as fast V8 that coughs at every gas station.

Id re-do that math and figure in the $3 gal fuel cost for 2 extra cylinders that aren't needed.

Not to mention the V6 cars handle and drive better as it doesn't have all that extra iron over the front wheels. Just killing your weight transfer.

A V8 has it place but not till you need 500+ HP
But I would never stick that much in my uni body bird.
300 would be plenty.

coughing at every gas station no lol

the 89 iroc i have may not get the same 30 mpg on then freeway
but the v6 is worse on gas if im just street driveing and the iroc gets around 26 on the freeway
why want a v8 will there not that bad on gas there better sounding
they have the same hp your gonna get out of the sc v6
203 if i calculated it correctly from a stock 3.1
but a sc v6 is also going to get worse on gas look at any of the new montes the sc versions lose some gas economy to make the extra power

now yes i agree that i do love my v6 but there has got to be a cheaper why to make power

Pace Setter Exhaust Street Legal headers certainly helps.
Using a 3.4 instead of an aged 2.8/3.1 also assists best of all!
With "Modern Technology" gas milage problems & "sport-personal-high performance cars" are things of past.
Now lowering the current gas prices sure would assist most of all!

Karl, If you have the time during the day to find out anything, I am definately interested in one. I am just very busy nd not by a phone during business hours for the next 2 weeks (I am leaving on Vacation next week camping on the beach in a motorhome near Santa Barbara)

Heres Paxtons website with a fax, e-mail and phone #. I have tried to Email them several times now after hours an no response at all. No I do not believe in cell phones, I have lived lmost 40 years of my life without the annoyance. I generally have weekdays off every so often to get things done during business hours since I am self employed, but right now I am cramming late hours trying to finish a big project so I can take off next week.

Freeway mileage is mute on a sports car. As everything does better at a steady speed but you aint gonna be able to drive it like you stole it 24/7 and afford gas.

I can drive it like I stole it and still get 25-28MPG city, c i t y.

I have a fast V8 car. I know first hand and it why it sits parked.
It should do 18 on the Eway but never with my foot.

--------------------

Wouldn't the paxton SC be the same for pretty much every car?
Just the flow rate would c hange. Maybe look and see what cars they still have them for. Find one that was made for an 80s ford v8.
