tapping lifter?

when i start my car (usually when its under 50 degrees outside) my engine taps..its kinda loud at 1st....then as it warms up it basically dissapears. but...i can still hear it a little bit. after driving it for like 15 mins its gone..i think its a tapping lifter. u guys had any experence with this, and if it is a lifter is it important to replace right away? its been doin it since it got real cold around oct. thanx..

dump a 16oz bottle of marvelous mystery oil in the oil. Or run some ATF in the oil to break up the sticky stuff. Thinner oil doesn't really help, getting a cleaning agent in there will.

If it was my car and it started doing that I would.

add half a quart of good ATF and a 16oz bottle of MMO.
Then drive n beat it for a good week. Take it up into red line for each gear often. Work the stuff around. You'll be a qurt over full, but ok.

Then change the oil hot.
Stuff will run like black water.

a quart over full on the stick cold wont hurt anything. As once the motor is running. All the little nooks n crannies, valley area, valve cover and so on, that quart over becomes about 1/4 of a quart over. No chance or risk of harm.

Yeah that's good advice.
ALSO GM oil supplement also helps, too.
PS expect a smoking tail pipe as this stuff is worked thru the system.
I also would not run to REDLINE EVERY GEAR
Why?
Try used valve springs & the age.
But the ideas are most sound & correct.

ATF is auto trans fluid

MMO is marvelous mystery oil

MMO is in a red bottle, made for both your gas n oil.
Great stuff for both. I use it often in my gas. Smells good too.

COuld get a 32oz bottle, put half inthe engine, half inyour gas tank. It a good upper cyl lube and help the intake fuel pump last longer.
