Help no dash lights!

Hey Everyone,

I have a couple of quick questions here, my dash lights stopped working.

(1) isnt the small 5amp fuse the one that runs them (mine was blew)

(2) I replaced the fuse but still no dash lights!

(3) I did a wire from the Gauge fuse to where the 5 amp was that I replaced and my dash lights came on when I would start the car up. I would like to have her fixed the correct way and not the hot wired way (plus it made my Service Motor soon light kick on) and it buzz's all the time like the keys off with lights on with the dorr open when its hot wired.)

Is this a dimmer switch issue? or what?

Thanks for all the help
Donnie H

Hello Donnie,
There is also a 20 AMP fuse that supplies power to the light switch and the instrument light fuse gets power from the light switch when it's turned on. Check the "TAIL" fuse.

I have, well had, that same problem. No dash lights. The headlight switch works so I didn't want to spend the $$$$ to replace it so I bypassed it. Use as an alternative, but hey, it works

Well, I know everything else on teh car is working besides the dash lights. I went ahead and check all the fuse's. The fuse I put in the Ins cluster spot still hasnt blew again yet so I am worried I might have killed the dimmer switch

What did you wire your dash lights to so they wasnt shorting out>? I got a little worried when my service motor light came on and the car seemed really sickly when I tried to drive her and the buzzing sound got old real quick Plus the wire I ran from the gauge fuse to the inst cluster fuse got really hot and melted a bit onto the fuse

Anyone got a wrecking ball that I can drop on top of her at least I wont have to worry about the dash lights or any thing else again, besides explaining how a wrecking ball fell on my car lol
