Valve covers and Transmission questions

Hey Everyone.,
I have read a few times about the questions I want to know about, but cant seem to find the answers now.

(1) The s-10 2.8 valve covers wont fit our cars? I think thats what I have read before but wanted to make sure first, I noticed that you can easly find them chorme unlike with ours.

(2) the Tranny from the 95 Firebird(I know isnt the 700R4 but a upgrade of it right)

So if I got one it would bolt into my 89 v6 fine with no issues besides it wont change gears untill I find a way to bypass the computer ****ing right?

What would one have to do to make it shift in our cars if its a direct bolt in Tranny?

I dont want one unles its a direct bolt in so if its not a direct bolt up one, just tell me it wont bolt up correct

Thanks for all the help guys

Yeah '95 F-body auto trans won't bolt up at all. It's meant for the 3.8 v6's, not 2.8/3.1/3.4 v6's.

As to the valve covers, I think the problem is that there's no internal baffles in them... but I can't say for sure- anyone?

They still made the 3.4 on early model 1995 F-bodies so it's possible to get one that would bolt up. However it's an electronically controlled trans and you'd have no way to make it work.

That should bolt to the 3.4L. If you look at the picture you'll see it has a 60* bellhousing bolt pattern. But if it's an electronic trans, you're assed out.

I dont see why the s10 valve covers wont fit??

I put eldabrock (sp) chromes on my s10 tbi, when I went to SFI I installed them just fine.

Made a pita to pour oil in though as the intake hung over the holes.

sweet, so this transmission will fit my car then correct! Is there any good perks as to putting this one in over the older 700r4? I just seen that the price is low and the shipping is low as well, and thought it might be a great buy for my car.

Thanks again

Thanks for the correction! I forgot about that - 94 was the last "full" year for the 3.4, right?

It'll bolt up, but the transmission is electronically controlled... it won't work without input from the '95 ECU, or possibly an expensive aftermarket controller..
