I plan on trying to make one myself but I can do it if I know what parts I need... I got the Diagram but I don't know how to read it. Any one have any sugestions.

then

If you've never read an electrical schematic before, I suggest hitting up a library. All you really need is 2 transistors, 1 diode, and 3 resistors. Three different colors of wire and a piece of breadboard would help too.... It may seem complicated at first, rest assured, it's an easy circut.

Should just print the diagram you want then take it to radio shack and say " gimme this"

Will probably the 50th time someone wanted to build one.

the chip is the only thing that costs any real money.
I made mine (with bells and whistles) for $20.
Mine has LED's that tell you when data is moving through either circuit, and when it has power.

That involved some creative use of fast swtiching diodes. But it certainly lights up a dark car.

2/3 packs of 90 cent resistors, a $3 chip, $3 B/B, $6 metal box, $2-3 D/B adapters, $4-5 D/B cable.

You should take a ALDL diagram and edit it with your led changes.

was thinking of doing that, but anyone that knows anything about electronics could figure it out pretty easily.

Just a matter of hooking the diodes on the current source, and have them relay through the data signal.

Well I called both of my local Radio Shacks and they don't know how to read a schematic. Can someone just tell me what I need to get. I can put it all together. I just can't read it

Car: '99 Trans Am, '86 Camaro
Engine: LS1, Scrap
Transmission: T56, T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 Stock ZT, 3.42 Open
Single Transistor ALDL Circuit:
2N2222A transistor (59c, qty 1)
5pk 10kohm resistors (99c, qty 1)
Male 9-pin D-subminiature connector, solder on style (qty 1)
D-subminiature plastic housing shell (qty 1)

Add for Two Transistor ALDL Circuit
2N2222A transistor (qty 1)
a diode
small printed circuit board, no connecting traces

I have no idea what you'd need for a MAX232.. I think the two-transistor is just dandy... but for the 82-89 V6, all you need is the one-transistor setup. Total cost, about 5 bucks

Really cause I have no idea and would rather have an idiot proof pic like the ALDL pics.
