Some Good Mods for my LB8??
hey guys as you can read in my sign i just got a hold of a 87 firebird with the 2.8 in it. I went ahead and put a 2 1/2 inch Flowmaster Catback on it. Besides the exhaust and maybe a K&N Air Filter is there any good mods to do to the itty bitty V6?

Lots of things you can do. Whats your main goal with the car?
First do a good tune up, and check/replace timing chain. They are known for going bad at 60k plus. Other then that, we honestly need to know the above question.

definitly tune-up first. I do a good tune-up on a regular basis and it helps a lot with both performance and mpg. I think TomP has said it best. Here's a link to his post on it.

After that, post what you're actually looking to do with the car and guaranteed people on this message board can help you out.

Car: 85 firebird
Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo, shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
rip out the crappy air filter and the housing and buy a cone type.
Bigger coil
Bigger cam( i saw one on a site that made the red line near 8g's of course you'd need more than the cam to get to those rpm's)
Porting
nitrous
Syth fluid
Rip out **** you dont need.
have fun

If you dont plan on putting a system in it, crank pully
160 or 180 t-stat
Custom tune chip
I belive that both your cars take same type coil, so upgrade it.
DIY 8mm or + wires.
Adjustable fuel regulator
Thats got the twin air intake correct? Like the tpi? Keep it!
Upgrade to 34mm front, and 24mm rear swaybars on poly mounts
TDS wonderbar
That make it little better then average.

Not sure on times. Really depends on mods, how your engine has been treated, car options. I'm sure you know the theory on that.
Their is more stuff you can do to these engines, but thats just a list of the easy/commen/semi cheap stuff.

A true cold air intake. [not a K&N filter PVC mod under the hood] a real true cold air intake where in some fashion you grab air from directly out side the car and run it into the engine.
I did that with 68-69 Firebird ram air hood scoops, you can do all kinds of things but you need some sort of piping that grabs true cold air.
These engines love them cold air temps and it adds at least 25% more to my fun when driving. Any time the car has gotten sluggish it was from a hole in my ducting.
as the car was sucking that nasty hot under hood air and did not like it.
I swear, on them cold gusty / windy spring or fall days in a head wind it has felt like I had a turbo. Some of my best street kills were at temps under 40f.
