Finished putting

Finished putting the motor together today. Stabbed it onto the transmission in the car and thats pretty much it so far. Tommorow afternoon I'll put everything together (If I get back from my secretarys party soon enough). If all goes well, I'll drive her outta the shop Monday morning and go on a well deserved cruise

Before ya cruise, double check the the wires/connections very close to the EGR pipe that feeds to the intake.
I "died" on the road, due to the fuel injection wiring being too close, heating the wires & shutting me down, until the wires harness cooled.
Have an excellent, enjoyable first cruise!
Ya certainly earned it!

Those particular wires....

Are going to be wraped in kevlar/aluminum tape. I had those wires' loom melt to the EGR pipe at one time too, lol! I'm not taking any chances with the harness. The thing I'm really concerened about is the fuel delivery. I'm just hoping the computer compensates like it's supposed too. I replaced every seal in the fuel system, so I'm not anticipating any leaks. I Am also a little worried about having the rockers adjusted properly (chilton's better know what they're talking about...). How did you set yours?

Here goes...
One the Firebird engine, I tried many times to adjust push rods by finger touch.
I adjusted too tight & kept valevs open which gave no compression & no ignition.
I had made a cylinder compression gauge that screwed into spark plug hole.
That did the trick on the Firebird. Push rod loosenss solved.
Blazer 3.4 engine swap.
I use same method, cylinder compresison gauge that screws into spark plug hole.
I get push rod looseness, noisy valvetrain. I shut down & await time to get back to the 3.4 under the Blazer. I expect to just try finger tighness & cylinder comprssion gaug method, not totally relying on the gauge for valve adjustment.
I hope your test ride goes very smoothly.
PS Keep driving around block a few times, not going to far for "possible pushing!"

Big concern is if the electric fan cycles on & off under normal operating temprature.
You should not have a single worry about the computer enjoying your upgraded engine.
If ya used all the same wiring harness same sensors as on previous engine in vehicle, you'll do fine. No worries there.
Did you install fresh rubber diaphram in the fuel pressure regualtor?

Actually....

No I didn't install a fresh diaphram. I figd if I need to replace it it's easy access, I have a set of tamper resistant torx bits too. Me and Sonar finished putting everything together today (this evening anyway). I have a slight problem that I wasn't inclined to deal with at 9:45 with no food in me (just beers). The starter wouldn't turn over, I must have an electrical issue, oh well, small potatoes. I'll probly go open the shop up tommorow and find the problem, i'm sure it's something minor like a miss connected wire or something (I don't think it's a ground, I did check those thoroughly). Anyhow, She looks awesome, I'll post some pics when the battery on the digicam gets charged.

Good News!

She's up and running like a bat outta hell!!!! WooHOOOO. Thing ramps up like an indy car man! I'll drive it tommorow after I put the hood back on. I tyhink im gonna need an AFPR though, it was bogging slightly higher in the rpm, I changed the ancient fuel filter and it fixed it but, I think it'll starve a bit higher up. Easy fix though, plus I'll get to throw a new part on my new motor, YAY!

Took the first test drives today!!!!!

It's lightly raining, but at 40 mph if I mash the throttle just a little (maybe 2/3's?) the tires break loose and she gets sidways. I can't wait to drive it with some traction, I'll post some G-tech 0-60 times for you guys too. Pictures to come, stay tuned kids!
