What aftermarket high-flow cats are you guys running?
JeffRS pointed out that the Catco's don't last long for keeping the pollutants down... what else are you guys running? Or, does anyone have a Catco high-flow that keeps passing smog perfectly? As I mentioned in my last message, my Products for Power cat is somehow, mysteriously, gutted- and I gotta hit the emissions check this month, so I need a new cat ASAFP!
I'm only interested in high-flow aftermarket units, by the way... and they gotta bolt in. I'm not busting out the welder just to change a cat.

Just did a lookup; Dynomax's direct-fit cat, # 15735, isn't stocked by Summit (part # WLK-15735). But Jegs (ugh) has it, part # 289-15735. And I really don't want to go through Jegs... anybody have another manufacturer?

By "Cat" do you mean that thingy that got torched off our RS a couple years back?
I haven't had a problem with JEGS at all. What did they do to ya Tom?

cats usually don't go bad. a bad running engine usually kills them or to much stop and go driving. you can usually get a marginal cat back to running good if drive the car on the freeway at a good speed for four hours straight , this was from a gm engineer. a gm cat usually does better at cleaning up pollutants rather than an aftermarket.

Newer GM cats are also usually "high flow", as well. But they carry a hefty pricetag.
Jegs sucks, period. Their salesmen have ALWAYS been snotty with me- like I'm wasting their time. So I don't waste MY time with them anymore. Last Jegs order from me was 1997, and that's how it'll stay. Summit all the way, baby!
So nobody here has an aftermarket cat, huh? I'm the only one? Weird. Okay, thanks guys!

I got the highest flowing cat you can get.
The installation is the tricky part to receive the proper flow.
First you installed the cat inside a garbage can and put a piece of straight pipe in its place on the car.
That cat will be flowing like a baby that ate to many peas.

LOL, Gumby!! Even if my garage let me slid (which I doubt), NJ's so strict that I'd be more worried coming across one of those damned checkpoints that the police like to set up, with that mobile inspection unit!
Lee, any company that feels I'm a waste of their time isn't getting my coin. Keep in mind, back then, there was no "order over the internet" like there was today- the only way to find out parts information was to call companies. And Jegs could never be bothered! So screw 'em; besides, not only has Summit always been friendly & helpful, they're cheaper too!

What is wrong with Jeg's??? I never had a problem
with Jeg's in the past 7 years. I will never understand
why some people here bash Jeg's. Also, if there customer
service was so bad, I would think that they would not
be doing so well. But then again, I always ordered online
or through the catalog. I have got snotty people from
Crutchfield, Summit, THIRGENRESOURCE, etc. on the
phone. It's not the company, it's the people who suck
with the customer service! They should NOT be on the
phones! But, they need the help, it's a ****ty job~

TomP,
You can try Magnaflow also. I have heard that they outlast
Catco and have stainless steel casing, but are more money!
Honestly though, I would just pick a brand name high
flow cat for a good price and try it out. Everyone has
had different opinions. I also think that factory GM will
outlast any aftermarket ones, but I know that you want
a high flow one for a decent price.
One more thing, I don't know how strict it is in NJ
as far as HC/CO limits and that crap, but for an old
car with a new cat, I wouldn't worry too much!
I had a failing ignition module at the time of my
"emissions/dyno" test, and it still passed with the
original cat! 13 years old with 80k!

I posted this in the product section so they could flame it to death but it looks to have some merit.
